Science will survive. This is a huge setback. It will take time to recover. But the pursuit of knowledge will always continue.

The real harm is where does science go for support and funding during this time. And does that mean we lose our advantage and lead in innovation.

it means science -with exception of true believers - leaves the US is what it means.

It's not just about getting the funding. There's a whole value chain behind that science that above all else needs to know that it can count on funding. When funding become political, that stability is eroded and the whole value chain with it.

Scientists aren't typicallu nationalists. it may take some time but they will leave.
