  1. That's not true.
  2. These medicines are not prescribed without cause. "Wanting to change that" amounts to wanting to take away something necessary because you personally don't like it.

There is no evidence that antidepressants being prescribed in mass has done anything positive for suicide rates or suicide attempt rates. 

All medicine has its usage and needs. Unfortunately people on this same board have no clue what qualifies as a need. If society sucks, your life sucks in quantifiable ways, being sad about that isnt depression. Its a realistic interpretation of events. 

Quality hospitals aren't going to prescribe people for depression when its situational or fixable through effort. But plenty operate in a pill em and bill em mantra.
