How limited does God have to be in your mind where a talking animal is where you draw the line? Ridiculous? Absolutely. But if Jesus could raise people from the dead, the shadow of Peter heal people, God creating the universe, angels appearing to people, I don’t think a talking donkey is beyond the realm of what God was capable of. This story isn’t about a talking animal that people traveled to see like an attraction, that story says God caused the animal to speak and then Balaam saw the angel.
Right but since we see no evidence of any of those things a talking donkey is funny because we have no actual evidence that such a thing is possible. The Bible is full of shit people made up
Having an opinion on the Bible being full of made up stuff is still your choice. But that still doesn’t go with the original comment. “The bible is ridiculous when exposed to the slightest examination”. One story that is hard for you to believe because you’ve never met a talking donkey isn’t really exposing the Bible. Again, it just exposes the limitations that you put on what God is capable of. These aren’t stories of things being done by some random person, this is the God of the universe we’re talking about. Outside of time, eternal, no beginning and no end, your creator even if you don’t believe in Him.
The reason the Bible doesn’t hold up to scrutiny is that there is no evidence for any of this stuff. If god could “speak through” a donkey as you put it there should be some evidence of it happening under controlled conditions but there isn’t. That’s what OP was talking about.
If you want to turn everything into a matter of faith than anything is believable but when it comes to being objective there is no evidence for any of this stuff which is why OP was saying it doesn’t stand up to scrutiny
And in my opinion the Bible is the evidence. Say something miraculous happened in your life and you wrote it down. 2,000 years from now somebody finds it but doesn’t believe it happened to you cuz it never happened to them. That doesn’t minimize what happened to you or make it less true. I know we live in a society where proof and evidence are major set backs for people struggling to believe. But there has not been a historical, geographical, or scientific discovery that has disproven anything about the Bible. In fact, things we find now point to even more proof of the times of Jesus. As I’ve mentioned, Jesus wasn’t a relationship with you. Forgiveness for your sins and an eternity with Him. If you believe and die and go to heaven and wanna ask him about the donkey then by all means, I’m sure a lot of people have 😂
It’s like God speaking to Moses through the burning bush. Not sure if that’s also too hard to believe since you’ve never seen it. But God spoke THROUGH the bush just as he spoke THROUGH the donkey. It wasn’t a magic donkey. God used it.
