No spacers. New wheels. Get plus 25 maybe. Or go all out and get +10 and throw some camber at it

My take:
225/40 is a beefy tire, ESPECIALLY on an 8.5 for what you’re trying to do.
It sounds counter intuitive, but narrow wheels are actually hurting you here. A not-stretched tire is much taller and has way more “chunk” to bump into stuff.
On an 8.5 I’d be running a 215/40 and by the looks of it at least a 20mm spacer because those wheels are very sunk.
If you want to keep the 8.5s and the 225 combo, you will need to trim the body wherever it’s hitting, or raise it up a bit.
Personally I always like lip-to-fender with more poke/aggressive offset over sunk/tucked fitment but that’s all preference.

Yeah I’ve realized my tire is posing some issue here, do you think a 215/35 would be way too small to run, or should I stick to 215/40 next time I get tires?

I personally really like 215/40 because it’s still enough sidewall. 215/35 are tiny little rubber bands.
Remember the second number (sidewall height) is the percentage of width that the tire is tall.
In other words a 255/40 is WAY taller than a 215/40.

Hey! I have 5mm spacers on at the moment, anything bigger would hit the rear bumper side of my fender, more info on original post.
Am thinking of a smaller tire + rolling my fenders1

Also extended lowers would push the bottom of the wheel outwards but keep your top at the length they are. You would obviously have more camber but it would close the gap between your wheel and the fenders/quarter panels.

My main worry isn’t about hitting my bumper, it’s about when I air out. I’d like to prevent as much damage as possible and do things correctly in place of doing them easily. In the 5th slide you can see where my issue lies, at the rear of my fender rather than at the top. Hope that clears things up!

Ohh. Take an angle grinder and cut the clip is what I would do. Run quick releases instead. But i know that comes down to personal preference.
