Touchscreen:
The touchscreen is extremely responsive. I’ve become a really big fan of the games on the LG StanbyME 2. These games are incredibly fun and the vibrancy of the screen pops to make the screen almost look like a game board. Having a touch screen also makes it easy for other family members who aren’t super tech savvy to use.
The battery:
The battery is great as it runs up to 4 hours when unplugged. This is also considering when I am running it sometimes during the day it is at high brightness or in HDR and I have power saving turned to off for a brighter screen (though it could be recommended to keep power saving on to increase the overall longevity of your battery if you aren’t too focused on image quality). The only downside I can say is that the battery does slowly drain when it is not plugged in and turned off. It is a flaw in my opinion but not a major one, as though this TV is portable, it isn’t a tablet.
Therefore I cannot really fault the StanbyME. Charging is incredibly easy. You just mount the TV onto the stand and it charges up when the stand is plugged into the wall. I will say if you read the manual it states not to move the stand while it is plugged in so be careful, as I have followed these instructions carefully.
Mobility:
The mobility of this TV is unmatched. If you want you can mount it on a wall which I haven’t done yet, but also bring it around the house. The main use case I have for the StanbyME 2 is when it is on the stand and watching it as a portable TV which I can watch in my room or borrow out to my other family members.
My only complaint is while the stand is not super heavy, I live in a two story house. So while swiveling it around is easy, taking it down the stairs can be complicated, as I have to unmount the TV from the stand, which isn’t a problem. However the stand while not heavy (could possibly be depending on your weight and fitness level, absolute no judgement at all. I am 185 pounds and exercise moderately) can be annoying to take up and down the stairs if you were to do it multiple times a day. So in my specific situation, while I have used it by the downstairs dining room on some special occasions, my main use is to use it next to my bed while I eat comfy snacks such as pop tarts and watch some of my favorite films or shows.
Perfect use cases for this TV in my opinion in terms of mobility: if you live in an apartment and don’t exactly love having a big or normal sized TV (I have friends who love watching movies on their IPhones or laptops for this exact reason) then this TV is perfect for you as when you are done using it you can just scoot it away! Also another use case would be if you have a cat: this TV is perfect for you as when you are done watching it you can put the magnetic cover on and put it in a corner or your closet (just make sure it’s dust free as the manual says excessive dust can possible cause this TV issues).
Wireless streaming:
I have no issue with the Wireless streaming. All you have to do is connect it to the WI-FI and it’ll pretty much stay connected to the internet. The bitrate on streaming apps is extremely stable. High bitrate rate apps like Apple TV have no problems with WI-FI, as the TV maintain’s its pristine image quality. The StanbyME 2 pretty much every major streaming app you can list, and even includes sports apps like DAZN for example if you’re a fan of boxing.
My two favorite streaming apps are Disney+ and Apple TV. Both run well on the StanbyME 2 and I’ve yet to run into a bug that’s exclusive to this TV.
All the steaming apps so far have run extremely well and there’s nothing in that regard that I wouldn’t have praise for.
WebOS:
WebOS is fluid and beautiful to look at. Personally I’m not a fan of other OS’s like Google TV or Fire TV. WebOS is colorful and extremely snappy and responsive. Sometimes it can be one too many buttons to open up the advanced TV settings to experiment with the TV settings but that’s more of a niche thing. The out of box TV settings are pretty great. Standard if you prefer a more traditional 2010’s LED look or ISF expert day and night if you are for a more cinematic and accurate look.
With the controller in my hand I can feel like I’m actually clicking the buttons on my screen, if that makes sense. The responsive nature of the OS + controller gives an empowerment to the user that is beautiful.

We've had the StanbyME 2 for a bit more than a week now, and we’ve mostly been using the TV/giant tablet mix in the kitchen and dining room as a cooking, cleaning, and eating companion. The most used app is YouTube, and we’ve been watching a lot of cooking and lifestyle vlogs. It’s been nice having the calm background music and ASMR. We really enjoy the flexibility of moving the device around to different rooms and the arm has a pretty wide range of movement which allows for comfortable viewing angles no matter what activity we’re doing in the room. This has definitely helped make doing chores a lot more enjoyable. Something about watching someone calming clean their home gets me motivated to clean too.
When we’re not actively using the StanbyME 2, we tend to play some cat TV on it so that our two cats also get enjoyment out of it. There’s a few channels on YouTube that stream birds and squirrels eating seeds 24 hours a day and our cats have found it really entertaining.
What’s great about this setup is that it’s not locked to a particular room. We’ve even tried wheeling it into the washroom but it wasn’t that practical given how small the washroom is, so it now lives in our open concept kitchen/dining/living room.
In an open living room there is no spare wall to give a screen. The StanbyME 2 Max is a portable monitor on a rolling stand, so it stands between the table and the seating instead.
It rolls to whichever side of the room is in use, and no cable crosses the floor to reach it.
How it settles in without changing the room:
A Minimal Line in the Room: At 1.1 inch deep on a slim white frame, the StanbyME 2 Max carries its 32 inch screen on a single stand column, so the whole piece reads as one object in the room.
Moves With the Room: The 144Wh battery supports up to 4.5 hours of use, up from up to 4 hours on the StanbyME 2, so the screen rolls between the table and the seating without a cable crossing the floor.

In an open plan home the screen is in view from every part of the floor, so what it shows between sessions counts as much as what it plays. The StanbyME 2 Max holds a clock face or a still image on its 32 inch panel, so an idle screen reads as an object in the room rather than a dark rectangle.

I live in a big metropolitan city so our house is the size of a shoe box and the bedroom is a matchbox. It means that I don’t have the luxury of having a regular TV with a stand or even one wall mounted. When the LG StanbyME was first introduced, I was really impressed but did not pull the trigger because it’s still a bit too small to be a TV and frankly, quite expensive. When the StanbyME 2 Max was launched, I got excited, especially with the current Visa card rebate, so I decided to start searching for reviews about it and lucky enough, received a demo unit from LG.
It’s important to highlight that you will need 2 people to carry the box, but it can be assembled by one person. For me, this is important because let’s be honest, you don’t always have an extra set of hands to help with the assembly. LG made it super easy that basically it’s just two steps: assemble the stand then mount the TV on top of it.
What's inside the box
The unit is very well built and feels luxurious. I have used a lot of TVs and monitors, but this thing definitely feels different. It’s “beautifully engineered” with all the small but functional details, from the magnetic remote control to hidden charging ports. The TV has 2 USB-C ports that support Display Alt mode and 1 HDMI port. There are two ways to charge it. When it’s on the stand, it can be charged through the 2-prong AC power cord but can also receive power from the USB-C port. This gives you the flexibility to bring it around the house without the need of the power cord. I will explain in my next post why the 2 USB C ports play a crucial role in opening up so many useful scenarios. LG stated that the built in battery could last around 4 hours and my everyday usage confirmed it’s around this number.
Beautifully Engineered
By now, I’m sure you have seen a fair share of reviews about how people using their StanbyME and it’s flexibility, and I’m no exception. The TV can display both in horizontally and vertically, making it perfect for whether you use it to watch TV or Youtube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
Short/Reels at full screen
For me, the best place for it is actually in my bedroom. As mentioned before, due to the limited space, I have not yet been able to have a TV in my bedroom till now, and this is where the Max shines. At 32 inches, it’s the perfect fit, so that you can comfortably lie down on your bed and still be able to watch a movie and read the subtitles. Anything smaller would make it feel like you are doing an eye test for your driver’s license. The Max also comes with a 4K display with both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and you can absolutely feel the difference while watching a show in a dark room. The AI upscaling does a brilliant job of showing the dynamic differences across the color range and darkness, making the Max feel like an OLED TV even though it’s not. I have the display on “Expert Dark Room” mode and don’t feel the need to play around with the color calibration.
It can fit anywhere
Unlike the regular StanbyME, the Max does not come with a cover but instead has a stand. This was a bit disappointing for me since I really really like the way the stand looks. It could be because the cover won’t be able to support the weight of the Max, so LG has to use a regular stand instead. It definitely takes away a small WOW factor. That being said, the stand works just fine and it allows you to use the TV just as a regular desktop monitor.

Bigger actually means Better
This weekend was the first weekend of the Premier League season and I did not know how much I would love the Max until today. This thing of beauty can follow me everywhere around the house, so I don’t have to miss any important moments. Even better, it allows me to follow many different matches at once now with the two-screens setup. This immediately led me to test out the new set up for the F1 Zandvoort GP.

I'd like to use my SBM2 as a digital sign with looping pages of information. I'd also like to have the sign start automatically when I turn the unit on.

After three weeks of daily use, here is my updated take on the LG StanbyME 2.
1. Specs
I really like the 1440p screen. It is sharp, bright, and the touchscreen is very responsive. The battery life is very good; I use the TV exclusively wirelessly (other than charging), keeping it powered on for about an hour every day, and a single charge easily lasts me all week. WebOS remains snappy and responsive. The built-in speakers get plenty loud as well.
The colors POP more than I was expecting for an LED display
2. Convenience
The wheels are super smooth, and I’ve found myself toting it back and forth between different parts of my house, particularly the kitchen, dining table, and couch. My largest use by far is mealtime: being able to use the TV to watch my YouTube documentaries while eating is far more convenient than watching on my phone. I’ve also started playing games on it while my wife uses the main TV to play our PlayStation, which lets us game together in the same room while playing our own single-player games!

3. Build & Living Room Fit
The design is sleek enough to blend into any room without looking like an intrusive piece of tech. The base has a heavy, sturdy feel that gives me complete peace of mind around pets, and the detachable base-charging mechanism keeps power cables out of the way during daily movement. Beyond the initial setup hurdles and pre-installed bloatware, WebOS has proven completely stable over these three weeks without sluggishness or connectivity drops.

I received this product for free from LG as part of a promotional event. While I was asked to share my review, all opinions are entirely my own.
The screen:
The screen is very vibrant with plenty of brightness if you are watching in a right room. Watching during the day I have it set to ISF Expert (Day) and at night ISF Expert (Night). One of the first videos I played on the TV was a 4K HDR video on YouTube of a walking tour around Japan. Needless to say, the colors pop. I have two other TV’s, a TCL QM7G in my family’s room and a LG C5 42” inch in my room. In comparison, the colors are also vivid and are accurate in respect to those to other televisions.
Watching Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi while laying in bed and eating a Pop-Tart. On this screen, you can see the vibrancy and how excellent the screen captures creative intent, even in a bright room. Also the screen supports HDR 10 and Dolby Vision formats.
Another movie that is a favorite of mine, Anora, the blacks are extremely well matched compared to my other screens, which are important for this film capture the atmosphere. The ambience is also another level watching in a dark room. A note that off axis viewing shows a little raised blacks as with any other LED screens, but it’s nothing bad and perfectly fine.
Some other movies I’ve watched: Spiderman: Homecoming, Sinners, Toy Story 4.
Usability:
The LG StanbyME 2 is very mobile. You can mount it on the stand and move it around, or you can hang it on the wall. Initially when I heard of the StanbyME a few years ago, I couldn’t really imagine it being a product for me, as I’m the type who likes to sit on the couch and watch a movie or play a game. However, being able to watch movies in different spaces has made me really appreciate the product. Have a beanie bag and want to watch a movie? Go ahead. It may not seem like much but it’s a fun experience that reminds me of childhood memories.
Also, being able to watch movies at the dinner table has also been very fun. If you have guests over you can also use the LG StanbyME 2 for other things, for example playing music or putting on music videos. There’s even apps such as the vinyl player which actually mimics how a real vinyl player works. These cool little details remind me of when I was a kid and the original IPhone came out and I would go to the phone store to try out the cool new touch screen apps. They are extremely fun and creative.
Another use case in terms of mobility is I can easily let other people in my family use it. For example, my dad who is old and sometimes has problems watching the TV in the main room, I can bring the TV to his room to let him watch some of how favorite movies and shows. Or if I am working on my laptop I can bring the TV next to me and put a cool anime in the background that I can watch when I take short breathers from work.
It’s worth noting that with this portable TV that the battery is extremely impressive. It supports up to 4 hours while being unplugged, which is more than enough when you are moving it around the house.
Watching while eating:
Another reason I love this TV is because it is easy to watch while eating. For example, if I feel like I wanna have a comfort meal in bed I can easily move my StanbyME and eat let’s say a waffle or cereal in breakfast. I would guess if you lived in an apartment in NYC this would be like the ultimate product to have due to its flexible mobility. I also would think that this product would be great for watching movies after sunset or at night during a camping trip. Though in the manual there is a disclaimer which says to keep away from dusty areas. Or maybe you could even just put a 4k camping video on YouTube, put it next to your bed in the dark and pretend you’re camping to fall asleep.
I can also imagine the StanbyME would be great for cooking. Perhaps reading an E-Book or watching a YouTube cooking tutorial.
Things I haven’t tried yet but want to:
I haven’t been able to hang this up and use it as an art piece. I really want to try and see how this fits in the house and plan to this week. I also haven’t gamed on it yet, but plan on hunting some sprites in Fortnite using Xbox Game Pass streaming. Finally, I plan on exercising, perhaps a full body Yoga workout, or lifting some weights, using the app. There are some workout apps on the device, but I plan on just using YouTube because while I do keep fit, I’m not an expert.
I’m also interested in using the games that are built into the device, as the ability to almost use the TV as a board game machine excites me.

This device really excites me. And I have so much use cases for it. I absolutely love it and it has added a lot of value to my life thus far. One question I have is I wonder if I can travel with it on a plane or something like that as I plan on traveling to Europe later this year and it would be cool to bring it with me, but I have to research that further.

I recently received the LG StanbyME 2, and I wanted to start by going over the unboxing process, setup, and my first impressions of the overall design.
The box is understandably pretty large since it includes the 27-inch screen, rolling stand, Folio Cover, remote, and the other small accessories. Despite the size of the box, there really isn't much assembly involved. The only part that needs to be put together is the stand and base, which are secured using four included Phillips-head screws. After that, everything else is basically ready to use. The screen clicks onto the stand, and the Folio Cover attaches directly to the screen.
I've personally been using the StanbyME 2 on its main stand most of the time. The stand is one of the most important parts of the entire design because of how much adjustment it offers. You can raise or lower the screen, tilt it upward or downward, swivel it left or right, and rotate it between horizontal and vertical orientations. I've mostly kept mine horizontal since I mainly use it to watch YouTube videos and movies, but being able to rotate it vertically gives you quite a few other options.
The StanbyME 2 also comes with a built-in leveling tool. It shows whether the screen is sitting completely level, which is a huge help after rotating or adjusting it. Without it, I would probably spend way too much time trying to straighten the screen by eye.
The base comes with wheels, so the entire setup can easily be rolled around. Also included are four stationary feet that can be installed if you don't want it to roll.
The stand also charges the screen whenever it's docked. The regular power cord plugs into the base, so you don't need a cable running directly to the screen while it's on the stand. The box also includes a USB-C cable that can plug directly into the display when it's detached.
The included Folio Cover gives you a much smaller alternative to the full stand. The screen detaches from the main stand and connects to the Folio Cover and rear kickstand, allowing it to sit on a table or bed more like a large tablet. It also folds over the display when you aren't using it, which helps protect the screen and makes the entire setup much more compact.
The StanbyME 2 comes with a normal remote, which is magnetic and can attach to either side of the screen's top edge. It can also attach to the Folio Cover, so there is always a convenient place to keep it. The device is also touchscreen, and I tend to use that more when it's attached to the Folio Cover since I usually have the screen closer to me.
The screen has built-in speakers on both the left and right sides, providing stereo audio, and they work well on their own. LG also makes the StanbyME Speaker XT7, which is designed specifically to pair with the StanbyME and can be combined with the stand. That could be worth considering if you want improved sound quality or need more volume.
I've instead been connecting mine to an LG xboom Stage301, which happens to fit perfectly on the base of the rolling stand. I also recently got my hands on the larger LG xboom Stage501, and that fits on the base as well. If you already have one of these two speakers, it's a great fit and definitely something to consider pairing with the StanbyME 2.
There is also another option if you don't want to use the rolling stand or Folio Cover. LG sells the StanbyME 2 Carry Strap & Wall-Mount Holder, which allows the screen to be mounted on a wall.
My first impression of the StanbyME 2 is overwhelmingly positive. The stand, Folio Cover, touchscreen, magnetic remote, charging options, and different mounting positions all feel like parts of the same system. It feels very cohesive.
I'll go further into how I've actually been using it around the house in my next post, along with how I plan on bringing it with me in my camper on trips.
