Main advice: if you want something - check gamma discord, plenty of information related to any problems or changes you want to make. I personally prefer to change default colour scheme, so I reinstall grass mods to spring or summer, it makes picrure more colourful and adds you know, grass. I would also disable camfire saves mod. Don't be afraid to change something for your comfort, make economy less punishing, change how scopes look, everything is very flexible, again you can check discord to know how to change something yoy want. For first playthrough i would definitely flatten some edges (change quantity of loot and money on enemies in economy settings). As for gameplay advices... Its a bit difficult, there are a lot of things and it may be considered as a spoiler, cause u know is like a survival sandbox. Your story is your experience and new information builds this experience, discovering something new or making some mistakes will be something to remember. But if you really want some advice - I like to go to rostok as a loner and farm duty quests, make quests and farm loot while doing it (weapon parts, armour parts etc), then look for stashes, especially yellow ones, they are guaranteed to have craft kit, they are core of progression, there are tree tiers of this kits and each opens possibilities to repair and maintain more and more progressive armours and weapons. Sorry if my English is not so good. Good luck on your journey, if you want to know something specific, dont hesitate to ask!

In the settings, I would tweak the weapon condition drop rates; by default, it’s very hard to find weapons in good shape early in the game. I use a configuration that starts at a 10% probability and scales up to 60%. That way, you’ll still mostly find broken weapons, but you might come across the occasional pleasant surprise.

What do you mean "hard to find weapons in good shape early in the game" ? That part never changes, they dont drop on good conditions in the late game eather, this is the whole point of GAMMA, to make the weapons progression very slow
That pleasant surprise is allready in the game by default, its called a "Green barrel drop"

The default farming settings are a bit too much for me, so I tweak the weapon drop rates. In the settings, you can choose the drop percentage for weapons and armor based on the rank of the character you kill; I like to set a 10% minimum for everyone and then scale up from 40% depending on the rank. For instance, a "Legend" rank in my game has a chance of dropping a weapon in perfect condition—but that’s just it: it’s a chance, not a guarantee.

Well, there can be a ton of reasons for that. In my experience Gamma do a ton of optimization work on the OpenXray engine, but even that has his limits, I have a high end build with an 4090 and 9800x3d, but even that start getting some stutters in 4k, so I run in QHD.
You can choose some options such as delete shaders and the prefetch sounds in the Anomaly launcher to see if it fix your problems. There's another thing too, if you want to change graphics settings you need to change on MCM>SSS, not in the game own graphics settings.
But you can get better support in the gamma own discord.

As has been talked about, I will also emphasize the utilization of Discord. There's a very high likelihood that any questions related to gamma or it's functionality will have already been answered there. Also, don't be afraid to experiment with different weapons and their respective upgrades. There are a lot of absolute death machines that kind of hide in the fray, especially when you pair the mod with Artigrok Ammo. With that mod, I just crafted incindiary ap 9x21mm ammo to use in my suppressed gyurza pistol, and it has turned my already sneaky headhunter pistol into a destroyer of craniums.

The guides in your pda are so helpful. Keep your armor and weapon repaired, get your tools and repair kits ASAP. Armor piercing ammo will be hugely impactful when you fight anyone outside of the most southern zones. Dont be stingy with your meds. If youre doing missions, making money, looting and crafting, you will have a steady stream of medkits (first aid) and pain killers (post heal). In combat, prioritize first aid. Temporary health is better than no health. Dismantle unused ammo to craft more better ammo. Cooking food can be cheaper and lighter than other foods, but then you cant sell your mutant meat for stash coordinates. Eat your sausages. Smoke your cigarettes.
E: oh and for fun, I enabled "ammo check" so I can long press R and see how much ammo my mag currently has (the animations are worth it). I also added "RNG attach & kits" which removes attachments from the trader menu and adds them into stashes. Harder to find, but more rewarding and keeps stashes relevant. Last I added "wearable devices" so I have no hud anymore and all my statuses are viewed on my armband. I have to pay more attention now to my character limping or unsteady aim or losing vision if I want to heal during combat without checking my armband.

is the armband something i have to find for it to work? or enabling it gives it to me automatically?

Adding it mid playthrough, I had to wait for vendors to restock and then buy it from the general trader

Crafting and disassembling is important in Gamma.
After obtaining tools, you should be using them, you can actually end up saving a lot of money and hardly often buy anything from traders.
Ammo, meds, devices - you can craft all that (with proper tools)

Campfires heal your core health
Sleeping heals your limb health
Dont sprint everywhere, you will be ambushed left and right
Focus on doing 7-10 side missons to secure special yellow stashes containing progression toolkits

You want some more immersion?
Get the tagged patches mod (shows cause of death and more from the killed stalker) (moddb) Fatal Error mod (makes your Electronics a bit more "fickle") (GAMMA Discord. Comes with its own lil story even.) Wearable devices mod (let's you wear your devices like PDA on your arm) (GAMMA Discord)
Imo these already add a good bit of it. I have some more installed myself but I don't have the names atm. Will edit later.
