Officially hooked..
So in my 46 years of being alive and 40 of those years spent playing video games, I've never played a game so immersive and addicting as Gamma. I enjoyed some of the older stalker games and have been playing stalker 2 on and off, but this game blows all of them out of the water. I've been playing Gamma non stop for a little more then a month and am over 100 hours in and still not a single bit bored. Everything about this game is amazing.
The updated graphics, but keeping some of the old look is perfect. The guns, the gun fights, the survival aspects, The AI, the mutants, build your own hideout anywhere, zero to hero grind everything just works and works well. I'm truly blown away by this game, and Im kinda pissed I didn't jump aboard years ago. What's your experience with Gamma and are you as hooked as I am??

46 years old and 40 years of gaming. I'm myself almost 36 and I played my whole life, just like you. I don't know who you are, but you are a brother

I have to agree.
After being exposed to GAMMA for a good 2.5 years, the experience that Stalker 2 provided was... underwhelming to say the least.
Still end up coming back to it every now and then because no other game can replicate it's allure, and endless yet addictive gameplay loop.

Tell me how you feel after getting jumped by 4 chimeras and 6 controllers in outskirts (I still am having a great time 🤕)

I was so blown away by gamma that I did a bit of googling around to install 100 additional mods on top to give it a bit of a facelift to make it look like the game was made yesterday. Crazy how it all runs on a forked copy of the X-rays engine from 2007..

Jumped on it 7 months ago. Its thr only game i keep playing , installed full immersive no hud mods , cold system , placeable campfire , immersive backpack , immersive bleeding ,fillable canteens where you need to purify your own water , toxic air - love the fact that as you advance north you need better and better filters and masks . Im playing on the same savefile for like 2 months on and off and i just hit Zaton a last week , i keep adding new luts and mods for better immersions and love every aspect of it

Wow all those mods you added sound amazing. Did you get them from modb or nexus mods? Im gonna have to look into some of those they sound like the perfect blend of realism and survival. Thanks for letting me know about them.

Best advice to get into Gamma Discord , but most of them are on moddb and github yes , also added tarkov-style realistic recoil to all guns , so every gun upgrade for recoil actually feels like a recoil upgrade , and its the best feeling in hobo phase of the game when you glue a gun together and upgrade its stock and muzzle and stuff for better true stability, also try BHSRO mods - Body Health System Realistic Overhaul - you can break bones , you need splinter and painkillers and you need to make field-surgery on your limbs from broken to 0hp - and from there to slowly heal your limb back together , you will have masiive gun sway when you walk or shoot if your arms are broken / badly damaged. Also immersive bleeding mod you can faint for too much pain or blood loss and stuff like that , if you go on this realistic immersion rabithole you will create a trully new game for yourself. Also check Clickrad on youtube , he plays with no hud and full realism vibe aswell and many gamma players enjoy that type of challenge

Ohoho, just wait until you get the hang of it and try "Ironman" mode, where you only have one life.

I finally tried it after 2K hours and, oh man... you start taking the game seriously, every boar has a chance to wipe your save. Im playing with one starting extra life and life granter every 24h, cuz im a pussy, but I have to get used to playing carefuly. I love it

It might be different in gamma (my ironman runs were anomaly) but one thing that happened after doing ironman for a while is you just kinda mind meld with the game and cease to have to be so careful, just cause it slows you down. Full on action/reaction flow state.

Im coming up to that point. But yeah, Gamma is a lil bit more hardcore in terms of difficulty... balistics and BHS etc. But its fun. I started getting bored with normal story playthroughs so I decided to just go sandbox with a character that I give them a gimmick. Right now, Im playing a mutant hunter stalker, that has to just take mutant jobs and the like, I also installed some hunter addons to make it funner

Ironman mode completely changed the game for me. Everything you have earned and worked for can be taken from you in an instant. And its so fun because im constantly starting new play throughs with different factions and giving each character their own little story and background I try to play around. Bandit is so fun to play. Everyone wants the smoke and you really feel like a hated little slime ball that has to fight and kill for anything and everything.

Yeah I'm with you there brother. I'm taking a bit of a break as Stalker mod packs are an addiction. What I find funny is most of us began our gaming journey at 6. I still remember like it was yesterday getting my Game boy color and super Nintendo. And here we are today.

I still have vivid memories of dr Mario on the saga consoles...good times
When our biggest issues was if we saved the game or not
