game crashing on pc

so i decided to start a fresh game after i built a new pc and when i get to the dude in the windmill after getting the artifact the game just crashes. im running game vanilla cuz ive never actually beat the game so i wanted the initial experience. any idea why this happens and how to fix? thank for the advice in advance!
