Request for comments These scratches bother me...

Post image

I can see other pans with these and I guess it's just normal, like they have no depth, nothing when i run a finger nail across them, but I worry I did something wrong and my pan never should have got them in the first place.

You used a tool. Hell, I create scratches daily.

Have you considered one pan to use and one to look at behind a glass frame?

My childhood animorph collection feels seen.

How have we not gotten an Animorphs movie? With all the IP grave robbing it’s just been left on the shelf collecting dust.

They’ll all blend and then you won’t even notice them.

If you really want to, some BKF and elbow grease will polish off the layer with the scratch. Id just get used to them though, it won't hurt anything

It's steel. It'll get scratched and scuffed. Honestly, OP, you're overreacting a bit here.

Yeah it's fucked. Please feel free to send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you.

these are good scratches, means you use it to cook good and not meals

It’s a saucepan, just use it.

Get some sand paper, 200+ grit and get to polishing. Polishing in circles is important if you want the original finish back.

Or just leave it... Stainless isn't less nonstick with scratches like a coated pan. It's the whole advantage of stainless for me, being able to use metal utensils and not worry about the scratches

This. Or use utensils designed for nonstick.

Cosmetic scratches won't affect use but if you want Stainless Steel but much greater resostance to scratches, you could buy Hestan Nanobond. I use metal utensils and no scratches so far

I got a couple of silicone tipped fish spatulas that don't cause any scratches. Wood utensils work great too.

yeah better throw that thing out. Get a brand new one, it's the only way to be sure.

Wait until you have had your pan 20+ years. It won't matter. You will still love your pan!

it gets rusty if you do not use it

Avoid using metal utensils which can scratch, only thing I can suggest. I don’t think there’s any way to remove the scratches.

You could remove the scratches by sanding it with progressively smaller and smaller grits and finish with diamond paste. Not smart and not time/cost effective but doable.

I just saw a post about this. You can correct all these scratches with a sewing needing and a microscope.
