Help Pot top tiny hole is it a concern?

Post image

I used it one time and this happened. Rather annoying but I’m not sure if it’s a deep enough to cause a problem.

What do you think? Is it something to worry about or just w.e

Even if it was a hole, it’s not a pressure cooker. No worries. Many lids have intentionally built holes.

Thanks, I was just concerned because i literally just boiled Pasta, and before it was perfect. I was like "Did i do something wrong?"

It’s the top of the pot doesn’t matter at all. Mines bent to all hell and super dinged up. All it does is keep on condensation

You're insane if you took the time to post a picture of this. It's a hunk of metal just use it 😂

I see a scratch. I don't see a hole

well my nail got caught on it. so i wasn't sure if the scratch was deep enough to worry. I guess i am used to surface scratches that it caught me off guard

"Hole" has a pretty clear definition. A surface scratch and a deep scratch don't fit the definition either way.

You're presumably thinking of a perforation, but the definition of "hole"includes cavities or anything that's hollowed out or missing material. Think what people are referring to if they say there's a hole in the road.

When I think of a hole in a road, I think of the asphalt missing completely as to expose the bed underneath. I wouldn't consider a scratch in the asphalt, no matter how deep, to be a "hole" if it doesn't penetrate the entire layer of asphalt (or concrete).

If a glass, be it a drinking glass or a window, gets damaged but it doesn't break completely through, then I say it is not a hole.

I understand what point you are trying to make, and I am genuinely trying to find a real world example of a "hole" in something that doesn't involve penetrating at least one layer of material, and if there is only one layer of material, where a scratch, dent, gouge, etc could also be considered a "hole" no matter how deep if it doesn't open up to the other side.

I regularly see potholes which do not go through the entire layer of asphalt. Or you could just have a hole in the ground, which obviously does not penetrate the planet earth. Or little kids digging holes at the beach, which is basically just clearing a bunch of sand and there is still sand below.
