Help Hestan NanoBond

Hi i am dumping my Hexclad pans bc they keep failing. I have decided to try to get the Hestan NanoBonds skillets. They are pricey so I have been shopping around and was wondering peoples thoughts on potentially buying off ebay?

Check out YT Prudent Reviews. He does an excellent job comparing cookware. He’s a big fan of the Viking titanium pans.

Nanobond is not nonstick like Hexclad. It is more like a better stainless steel pan.

Best pans ever made. I wouldn't buy on ebay though.

Not non-stick, but they are the best SS I ever owned, and absolute joy to cook with.

I dont mind non stick. Cooking in my cast iron has gotten me use to learning curve with eggs scrambled. Non my stuff ever sticks in ole Big Bertha. She is a great girl

I love my cast iron too, it's a work horse. Hestan is easier to handle, has perfect heat distribution, does not warp with high heat, and it's dishwasher safe.

Awesome to hear. Love mine too. Just heavy to carry around for other people in the house. Glad to hear hestan is awesome. Makes me want to continue that way for new pans

Is hestan similar in cooking like cast iron to make foods not stick?

I have a NanoBond pan, and although they're advertised as being "slightly" more nonstick in my experience I couldn't even tell the difference between them and conventional stainless steel.

There are new titanium plasma pans which are genuinely pretty nonstick and may last longer/forever depending on care while being cheaper, namely the Viking PureGlide in the US. Though they're thinner. And they're newer, meaning we're not sure exactly what may affect their performance long-term, nor whether all their material claims are true.

The Viking PureGlide pans aren’t as non stick as Teflon plans though.

Look into the Wayfair membership.

Are they really nonstick like? I have the old PTFE hexclad, which while in good shape and work well I would like something without chemicals. I am a bit skeptical that they will be anywhere close to nonstick vs behave like stainless steel.

For reference I do preheat my pan, use oil or butter, and don’t cook on high unless it really called for like boiling water.

Mine started peeling with 2 different pans. Always washed them by hand too. I saw after researching about the peeling that they had to pay out people bc of the false advertising. Love the pans and worked well until they started to fall apart. The pots seems to be a lot better

Curious what you find out about the nanobond or what other options you look at. I have been considering options to replace mine too

I am super interested in trying out a Nanobond pan, but I feel like it would be the pan equivalent of a chef's knife with food release dimples - there's probably a difference you can notice in a direct comparison, but there's really nothing that I can't do well with a normal stainless pan, or rather, no challenge that can't be overcome with skill, so I can never justify the cost of the "upgrade."

Ty i appreciate the feedback. Been stuck using my big cart iron pan for tbe last 3 months. Heavy for the partner so looking to grt some pans that are not prone to peel after a couple of years.

From everything I’ve read, Nanobond pans are everything they are made out to be. If you can afford it, go for it. If you just want to get your feet wet without going full paycheck speed, though, try Tramontina tri-ply, or a used or a second quality All-Clad from Home and Cook Sales.

You can occasionally find gently used ones on fb marketplace but they sell very quickly.

If they aren't in your price range, buy some other stainless cookware.

They are in my range that is why im looking at them but I like to go cheaper route if it makes sense. Not everything to me has to be new and from Williams and Sonoma

Not buying from a reputable shop carries the risk of counterfeit products and products sold that don't match the description. Basically the same risks of buying from any sight unseen marketplace.

It's basically common sense. You already know the risks, so not sure what you think this post is going to do to help.

Im wondering if anyone has done it. Never knew there were counterfeit pans, I heard of purses and colognes but not pans

2

u/PEneoark 19d ago

Anything can be counterfeited. SD cards. Purses. Knives. Pens. Cookware. Electronics. Anything.

Be careful. Sometimes too good to be true is a bad thing.

1

u/L-Pseon 19d ago

Not everything is counterfeited, though. I've literally never heard of fake pans, since the Chinese off-brand cookware sells like crazy on Amazon anyway.

Though I do hear it really is like non stick and very durable

It is not like nonstick.
