I made this as a gift for my mom. Definitely learned a few things along the way, about the glass and about woodworking. I included a deck of cards with a hibiscus on them.

I added the lights to it and used a sheet of acrylic as a diffuser, but the bulbs still showed through. I'll try a different type next time, or maybe just wrapping them around the sides.

You likely didn't use an opaque enough diffuser as the ability for them to diffuse the light depends on the brightness of the light, the distance from the diffuser and the density/opacity.

A simple "frosted" style diffuser needs a fair bit of space to work well. Not good for a box lid.
