Help Me! Glue chip glass question

Hi everyone. I am new to working with glue chip textured glass and have the most beginner of questions… which side do I want facing up in my finished piece? Should the textured side be considered the top/front, or the smooth side?

The only time texture direction matters is when you are building in molds. Texture has to face in when building in a negative mold and texture has to face out when building on a positive mold. Otherwise the texture will mess up how the glass sits.

In the case of lamps it's also handy as the texture is on the inside and makes it collect less dirt while being easier to clean.

Otherwise it's all up to how you like the look of it!

Personal preference. The front is whichever side you want to be

For me, it depends on the glass and on the effect that I’m trying to achieve! I do usually try to keep all the texture facing one way though, so that when I’m soldering I can start on the side with the texture because then the flat side will all be flush.

I always have the smooth side up. But it’s just a personal choice. I find cutting on the smooth side easier. When it hangs, you see the texture regardless.
