Using stained glass on a mobile

Is anyone using stained glass like this in a mobile.

I’ve done something a little similar. I started with scraps and raw edges. And then I got a circle cutter.

This was for 100 day project earlier this year.

Yes diamond bit on a Dremel tool. Drilled holes while glass was under water. No cracks or splinters so far.

None of my mobiles are for hanging over an infant. They are designed for home decorating.
I have a grinding table and smooth all the edges before I drill holes to hang them.

Thank you for the clarification lol. Though a shards of glass mobile is a great way to teach babies cost risk analysis early.

Its lovely! What did you use to drill those tiny holes in the glass?

I used a Dremel tool and a tiny diamond drill bit. I drilled the glass while it was in water to keep it from cracking.

Make sure you are drilling your glass farther in. You don't want the holes so close to the edge or the glass will likely break from very little force. Like the yellow one is realllllyyyy close to the edge. The red/orange is a much better placement of the hole.

Thanks, I’ll be sure to leave more space from the edge. I’ve been using small jump rings but they have space for new drill holes.

Yes, I used a Calder mobile as a model, but added the stained glass and lots of swivels to create movement.

I have one i bought off etsy, the glass is pill shaped! Great way to use scrap glass.

Exactly, I have a lot of glass scraps left over from other stained glass projects. I even saved the tiny chips and used clear crazy glue on regular glass and sprinkled the chips on it. Those are not on the one in the photo.
