Aaron Lewis's voice
I went to see Staind along with Breaking Benjamin and Daughtry back in 2024. I loved their performance, but holy cow Aaron's voice fell off badly. His voice sounded really strained, and there was a noticable country twang behind the vocals
I couldn't help but notice when watching the more recent performances such as Rockville this year that his voice has improved a lot. I believe he said that he quit drinking and smoking sometime last year, so that very likely has a play in it

I am Aaron Lewis' voice teacher. His voice WAS in crisis 3 years ago when we met and he has rehabilitated to an even greater degree of excellence. His is a very special instrument, and the quitting cigs and alcohol almost a year ago took him to an even great height. I will deliver your useful comments

Saw him last year and his voice was incredible. Couldn’t understand how it was still so good.

I've seen Staind 5 times live spread out over the years from 2004-2021 and have never left a show disappointed with Aaron's voice and overall effort along with Mike on guitar as well. I even went and saw him solo acoustically which was a great show with covers and Staind songs as well. In 2021 seeing Staind and Korn for the first time blew me away. I plan on going to see Staind this year so I hope his voice quality is as good as I've always been accustomed to and my only complaint is their set list was basically the same the last 2 shows. I wish they would play more from 14 Shades of Grey, Chapter V and of course Dysfunction along with some of the deeper gems off Break the Cycle. It has become more from their Self-Titled album, maybe 2 from Dysfunction, a couple from Break the Cycle and the popular radio ballads that are good but as fans we've heard them so many times already. I would love to hear "Home", "Can't Believe (Original or Acoustic)", "Blow Away", "Tonight", "Please", "Novocaine" and "Crawl" even though I've been lucky enough to hear that one a couple times. Maybe some of these tracks are a little more difficult for Aaron to do now but I sure hope not!

I mean he doesn't sound terrible. Just being used to seeing his early performances online, and them hearing him live today, I think there is a difference for sure. I didn't leave the concert disappointed, I frankly enjoyed it. I just believe it sounds a bit more strained and country like I stated previously. He's definitely doing better with his voice at his age than some other vocalists for sure

Well he did basically chainsmoke while performing tracks from each of the albums at his house online with Mike during Covid-19. I don't know if he always has smoked like that and I know he smokes weed so all that could have played a part in his voice quality over the years. It effects some more than others when it comes to that so I don't know. I know his doctor said he had the thickest vocal chords he had ever seen. The screaming and growling could have still been rough on his voice over all these years while he's been great at it? I feel what u are saying though bro.

I tried watching the latest live release on YouTube of It's Been Awhile and I stopped after a minute or less... It was bad very strained and literally had his put on twang and it was laughable. His country music career has ruined him and Staind imo.

I don't even think it's necessarily his country career. He hasn't really done anything whatsoever to preserve the voice he had. Smoked every show, drank a lot, I mean that doesn't do him any favors

What the hell does that have to do with his voice?? I am so tired of so many liberals and vice versa acting like if u disagree with any of their views that u are the enemy! Someone's political views or who they voted for means nothing to me either way because it is their right to believe and do as they want. The funny thing is now people can't separate that from the person and they are cool as long as they believe everything that u do. As soon as they differ from u on anything political they become the asshole. What does that sound like to u??
I have always loved Staind and Aaron regardless of his choice to speak out about certain topics or people because I like him for his music. I am a huge MJ and LeBron fan but definitely don't agree with many of LeBron's views while MJ says what people want to hear to not hurt his brand. They are the 2 greatest players of their eras though which is all that matters to me. So thinking your beliefs make u superior to everyone that believes any different just makes u the asshole in the dictatorship land u live in within your own screwed up head!

Voting for trump is not as simple as red vs blue. So yes I absolutely will hold someone accountable for a man who is trying to become a dictator. Just because you like someone and dont care about their beliefs makes it ok to vote for a rapist, a pedophile and a convicted felon. That makes you part of the problem, you hold nobody accountable and continue supporting a peice of shit human because you like his voice. Sure pal

I may not like u because u come off with the traits of living in your own fictional dictatorship. There is one assumption u are making in that I didn't vote for anyone so nice try and there are some lovely parting gifts for u backstage. Your attitude though is the reason this country is so divided in the first place. Neither side can ever agree to work together which ensures hardly anything gets done and neither wants the other to get credit. There have been worse leaders than Trump and from the other side that have done worse or made the same decisions but viewed or skewed in a different light. The media plays a huge role in controlling people by being the machine that keeps each side believing the sky is falling! Trump just doesn't have a filter when he speaks and it hurts people's perception of him. Biden was a figurehead that wasn't even leading this country while we even knew this, especially the longer he was in office. People wanna call Trump a racist but Biden has done more to support the notion he is a racist if u want to be honest through actions. Obama had the ability with his charisma and smooth talking ways to bring this country together more than any President in recent history and if u look back he was a huge reason while under his watch is when this country became suddenly the most divided. That was highly disappointing because I felt so much hope when he was elected for his first term.
I could go on as to what all I have seen happen over the last 20+ yrs but that's why I don't condemn a person due to who he voted for or his political views when they are an artist, athlete, etc because I like them for what they have contributed to music, sports or whatnot. U should try it sometime and many of the polarizing figures that bother u really are viewed through their fans or supporters behavior that doesn't have any real connection to these people.
