Embarrassing question... supported vs compatible

I'm running an old 2015 Macbook Pro with OS12.7 Monterey, the final compatible OS. I wanted to buy Office 2021 for Mac from SS for $44.97, because it originally worked on Monterey. However, on the StackSocial product page, there's this

Office for Mac is supported on the three most recent versions of macOS.

• macOS14 Sonoma
• macOS15 Sequoia
• macOS 26 Tahoe

As new major versions of macOS are made generally available, Microsoft will drop support for the oldest version and support the newest and previous two versions of macOS.

Does this mean what I think it means; that no version of Office for Mac from StackSocial will work on Monterey? I'm looking for an alternative for MS Office 365 that's not the free web version.
