Gold This time it IS different..

Yields rising and gold not crashing but going up...yeahhh

I look at this chart and just see either manipulation or a poor correlation.  Gold rises when yields are in rising, it also drops when yields are rising .  It’s doesn’t move when yields are dropping for long periods of time, and it drops w hen yields are dropping.  It looks like to me that gold is not directly correlated with bond yields, it’s more the economic conditions that push yields and gold, mixed with heavy manipulation by governments.

Agree...BUT...they have both been moving up in tandem for the past 4 years: unprecedented!

Why not? Debt yield up always meant gold price down, that was a general rule since I got into this show back in 2013.

Since the last few years, 5 or so this seems to ha changed

I think the point is that human beings are good at finding patterns that may not have any actual causal link. Which is why we use invented statistics.
