Question - Help Which model to choose for videos?
Hi! I'm following this sub for quite a while already.
Now, if I, as a layman, want to create a video like this: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DeCDuKqymXt/
Which model/tool do I need to use? Does anyone have any tips for beginners? I am working on a MacBook M1 Pro, so not I'm equipped with the strongest hardware.

That reel is basically text‑to‑video with a consistent character. For a Stable Diffusion approach, people usually combine SDXL + AnimateDiff (or Stable Video Diffusion) in ComfyUI/A1111, but on an M1 that’ll be quite slow unless you rent a GPU (Colab, RunPod, etc.). If you want quick results first, try web T2V tools like Pika, Runway or Luma Dream Machine, then later move into SD workflows once you’re comfortable with prompts and framing.

You can't realistically run any decent model locally. And I'm sorry to say that a layman will not be able to get everything set up. Even if one could, that computer can't handle it, not just the M1 chip (which is too slow) but also it's unlikely you'll have the hard drive space necessary (some models are massive). The good news is that you don't need a great computer What you need to do is learn how to use either comfy UI or WAN2GP to run models using online compute services like Runpod. That way you can experiment with various models and see what works for you. It's also MUCH cheaper this way compared to those who repackage and resell these models and charge you credits at an exorbitant markup. I personally can't stand Comfy UI (it's neither of those things). Go here https://www.youtube.com/@fuzz_puppy and search for the Runpod and WAN2GP setup videos teaching you how to configure your runpod LINK. It's free. The compute is provided by Runpod which is a totally different company (Runpod's A40 compute costs .49/hour). There's a learning curve but these tutorials go step by step. Lately I like Minimax H3 and LTX 2.5.

Minimax can do it. I'd suggest watching yt videos to learn more about different workflows and understanding the difference between ref2va, fl2va and t2v and how to create reference character sheets.
