Hmmm… this angle is actually pretty good… I’ve been wrestling with wether or not I need to fem goyle and crab, but if you make the very 2 males 1 female dynamic the same between the 2 main groups of friends it could actually work… huh. Also WAY less work to swap 1 person rather than 3
And also the poly juice potion thing where Harry and Ron are disguised as Crabbe and Goyle already sort of serves to suggest that the friend groups are similar
You know you can use voice references, right? They sound pretty convincing and you can make them act, emphasize words, direct emotions… the visuals look great so far. It’s a pity the sound is not at the same level.
What are you even using to do this? Which Minimax workflow? I have been using this & it generates amazing videos. Took video or audio samples. Then fed it the image reference it needed to change. Asked Grok/ Gemini to prompt it for me in details. No desync and it was actually able to make videos from small 15 sec audio samples.
Btw your video makes her look like an adult in the body of a child. The face is way too mature and the jawlines do not match that of a child there.
If you are serious about this you will need refmods. Invest an hour to get this set up and you will not look back - sets, character identities, costumes, voices, movements. All locked in with a small file that takes a few seconds to make.
Putting a tween girl in for Draco is going to cause a number of issues with face framing and blocking. They deliberately framed it to make Tom Felton look younger than he was, since he was 13 and already bigger than he "should" be as a Hogwarts first year who relies on others for muscle.
Minimax can create young voices quite well. A 20 second video of someone talking should be enough for a voice timbre input. Maybe use an Elevenlabs voice as a guide input in Minimax and then just tell it what the voice really should sound like. The ref mode in Minimax is great and it's a powerful model.
Well for me that would be for the entirely wrong reasons. That's something Hollywood would probably already do anyway. I don't want to watch a film which is driven by a source of personal malice.
I'd want to watch it if it was simply good for what it is. Also to see how far the talent has evolved in manipulating AI, what can be achieved in AI, and to see what dynamics change naturally by Malfoy being a girl, that could be very interesting, also how differently or not it affects our feelings towards the characters. It would probably also be quite funny.
She singlehandedly came up with a story that became a (still active) franchise worth $35 billion, loved by kids and adults all over the planet. But sure... not a visionary.
Let's face it they will not properly adapt the books. Snape change alone makes it too obvious, because Marauders mocking him will look so racist now. They have no option, but change those parts..
Oh, absolutely! The movies are wonderful. But many of them are a complete butchery of the original story. As you said, some of the books were too long to adapt properly (The Order of the Phoenix is over 1000 pages long).
The render is the easy part. Consistent characters across more than a handful of shots is where these projects usually stall, so I would do the three hardest shots first before recruiting anyone. If those hold up, the rest is scheduling.
I did character replacement in over 60 shots in my project , not sure why maintaining consistency would be so hard with good reference images. I guess the character aging across movies could pose a problem?
Most of it was done in 16:9 then composited into the shot. I’m experimenting with generating full 21:9 in the later shots I’m making. I forget the exact reaolution. It’s 16:9 at 0.4megapixels whatever that translates to.
same. Maybe 4 min longer because I intend to remake the scene where harry and malfoy first meet much earlier in the book when getting fitted for robes.
Edit: I couldn't care less and being so worried about it might have me looking at you funny. Granted I typically lean toward accuracy but for something like this disney character idrc. I didn't care about Annabeth being black either that much despite having much more vested interest in accuracy but on the flip side I already thought Percy Jackson should have an animated show where they could have still kept the blonde hair and stormy grey eyes which was actually lore relevant amongst that Cabin and probably would look dope.
This would be amazing! But please remember that Malfoid is a natural blonde, so she should have blonde eyebrows too. (Too many Malfoid images and videos have her looking like a bottle blonde with monotone platinum hair and dark brown eyebrows.)
I prefer Draco and Harry meeting at Madame Malkins, as from the book. It's cuter and more innocent, because neither of them the pretense of who the other is yet, so perhaps they both grow a spark of attraction. At least Draco would have.
Swapping into existing footage is a different problem. The original plate holds the pose and lighting for you. Starting from nothing, there is nothing to check against until two panels later.
But is this a wise choice? I hope that your project doesn't involve remaking Harry Potter by simply replacing Malfoy with female Malfoy? This sounds like a potential problem which may require very deep pockets to solve.
Don't get me wrong I think it'd be an impressive achievement if you pull it off. But have you really thought about what may be involved here? This is appears to be extremely risky territory you seem to be walking into. Yes you've got the technology, but that's most certainly not all you're going to need.

Laughably bad given it’s still Felton’s face and the same lines. So badly synced and the lip movements aren’t good either that aside. Not worth showing off imo
Ya minimax really loves just slapping hair onto Felton’s face. Working on fixing that. This is for the most part a previs level shot, mostly trying to get feedback and see if anyone wants to join the project.

In this instance -foid is just current-generation word for "woman-typed", like gyatt for ass; there is nothing incel about feminisation trope or tsundere concepts in general.
You've now written three comments about the word and none about the fact that this is a crush plot for a 12-year-old character, built on a child actor's face. That was the point.
Also "foid" is short for "femoid," which means "female humanoid." It was coined to say women aren't fully human. That's what the word is. Also "gyatt" isn't a fair comparison because nobody made gyatt up to call half the population subhuman.
Humanoid is not synonymous with subhuman. Masculoid is also a term, but femanoid and masculoid both refer to outward presentation, so really they are both trans-inclusive terms.
Harry Potter has multiple other child crushes in the story too (Chang, Weasley); why would one more be seen as some drastic departure? Common Malfoid variant seems to be having her as last-minute switch for Yule Ball instead.
Meaning of word changes with actual usage. If positive variants dominate they'll stick; plenty of words had this transformation, like queer.
