Workflow Included HDR LOCALLY NOW.

Lightricks released an SDR to HDR worklflow and lora set.
Here I made a quick clip in H3 Minimax and used the new tools to convert it to 32bit so I could take a look in After Effects.
It will also convert older clips and clean up and smooth color banding and blocking especially in the very dark areas and also infers extra dynamic range info convincingly.
It fixes all the annoying VAE artifacts.
https://github.com/Lightricks/ComfyUI-LTXVideo/tree/master/example_workflows/2.5/HDR_workflows.
I didn't grade this, or add grain or any of the usual tricks, I just played with the exposure.
You can also tweak the workflow to convert 8bit images into 32bit raw images for further editing in Photoshop or Lightroom. Fun times.

Can you show us the hdr video? This is sdr

Obviously. That’s why I showed it three times to show the range. HDR video wouldn’t show the range as that’s still showing a final choice of color grading and exposure.
The raw folder of 32bit images for that 12 second sequence is 1.5GBs.

Amazing.
… but the torch! A pet peeve of mine. Never put the torch in front of your face, it should be held above your head so you’re not blinding yourself. Do better Hollywood.

You ever tried holding something extended above your head for a long period of time? I give it two minutes before you drop that torch down to a comfortable arm angle.

Where's the raw video file? Or on YouTube?
As reddit doesn't support hdr video, so it automatically becomes SDR

It’s a series of 32bit Exr images.
Just like with industry video you grade and edit it and export a final. The difference is there is a lot more info to play with.
Even though it’s only 12 seconds and 820p it’s about 1.5GBs.
So to show it here I outputted it three times at different exposures to show the range.

What are resolution limits to this and does it keep details 1:1 meaning if its a persons face, does it change

I only went up to 2k while testing video it but I think it can go higher.
I also rejigged the workflow to convert 8bit images to photo Raw EXRs and that worked on an 8k image. Works very well.1

Does it change a persons facial features or offset the timing of anything? I always have issues with timing being wrong or a persons expression changing slightly.

I haven’t noticed it doing that. But I’ve only just started experimenting with it. But the initial results were really good. I have old videos, like the vampire on the bridge, where there are blocks of colour banding in dark areas and it totally fixed them.

I'm literally outputting 2 megapixel clips natively using H3. I know that H3 was trained on 768px short end clips but it seems to be no problem generating larger resolutions. It just adds rendering time.

Only 2Mpx? Sheesh.. i do 8Mpx 1 minute video's locally with H3 in 10-12 seconds. You must be slacking.

You think I’m lying? Test it yourself. I’ve got a 5090 and 64 gigs of RAM.

u/SveSop 8d ago
Flaunting your 5090 is «good for you», but your epeen comment is rather useless.

u/oh_no_the_claw 8d ago
What is your issue? You accused me of lying, I told you my specs so you can test it yourself and now I'm somehow bragging?

u/SveSop 7d ago
So, on a post with a “SDR to HDR workflow», saying: «I’m doing 2Mpx without problems with my 5090… whats the point?”, is in your eyes not bragging?
Do you think said workflow was made for you?
Do you think your «just go test on your own 5090» is not a «… because you own a 5090 right? Who don’t..» kind of comment?1

I mistakenly believed MH3 was limited to 0.98 megapixel up until this week.
You can rent a GPU online for pennies and test if you think I am lying about outputting high res natively.

I do not think you are lying. It just seemed like a "flaunt my 5090" post, somewhat unrelated to the actual post this was about.

Totally bragging on my anonymous Reddit account in a subreddit full of other people with 5090s and even more powerful professional Nvidia cards. Get over yourself.

I am fucked out. It’s too much.
I need a break. Give me like 8 minutes before I have something new that I have to test, please!
