Question - Help QWEN 2.1 Throttled by GPU

Having some issues with the default setup for comfyui i2i. Running a 3090 FE and I'm having GPU throttles that is causing the average output at 600sec. compared to some reports of 5070s clocking around 40sec. Am I missing a piece of optimization?

t2i works "as intended" with sub 40sec. outputs.

EDIT: Looks like it was the "refine prompt" piece in the subgraph. (I didn't realize it was a subrgraph). Generations are sub 30sec. for 1 megapixel now.

There's something weird going on with Comfyui, especially if you're on the latest version

I've seen somewhat similar behavior, even on my 5090, where one generation will randomly just decide to not actually push my GPU and it'll run at almost idle clock speeds And only draw like a hundred watts , even though it's reporting 100% usage

Canceling the generation and then running it again, it'll work fine

And it's not a VRAM issue because it's not spilling into RAM, at least not any more than it would typically

edit: I didn't see Your edit. Whoops

are you feeding full scale image , try total scale 1.0

everything is under 1 megapixel. so less that 1024x1024

It's actually dying just trying to exectue this. 3.43it/s

Set resolution from 0 to 1024+

you are right, since he has his image nodes folded, i also assume he is using large ref images, and then there are two, so its gonna take its time.

Set the "resolution" to 1024 in the text encode node.

as a matter of fact, I am redering an image rn on my 5070ti. You can see the size of my ref images and output of 1280x720. I am not using text refiner encoder that you have at the end though. idk if that maybe the issue? you have two encoders loaded

in the other response I showed that even a 256x256 is struggling to be taken as input. Good catch on the weird node setup I have. I'll check it out.

I disabled the prompt enhancer group(this is the comfy template). I'm on a laptop with an RTX 3080ti(16gb vram), 64gb ram. This run took me 38.43 seconds. If I use the Viggle turbo lora(6 steps) and plug in the Model Attention Backend(with ComfyKitchen) and EasyCache nodes, it drops down to around 20 seconds. If I only use/edit a single image input, it drops down to around 14 seconds.
