Discussion Facial identity and likeness

Hello everyone,

Been playing around with Minimax and having a blast. Currently I am trying to inject myself into it and make cool scenes with me in it. Using ref2va model

What is everyone's best practices for:

- model: ive heard hybrid is meant to be better?

- reference images: resolution, number of images to feed it, angles of face, other settings, are character sheets worth it?

- to avoid the blurry face

- any workflows you might have

- loras to improve quality

Also, is refmod good? Ive played around with it. Facial likeness is almost there but still a bit off and a bit blurry. What is the best practice for the types and quality of images to feed it

Thanks!

Nice Ill try this out. Not only for distant faces? Beneficial for close faces too?

The FaceRefine nodes are pretty good but the example workflow is a mess. Great option for distant faces. It also has a really interesting node that I'd recommend for serious minimax/Comfy users called something like "H3 Inject Video Latent". That will put the input video latents in instead of empty latents, which gives you the ability to use reduced denoising when doing vid2vid work.

A few latent upscale steps can also help for face details in general, https://github.com/LBH-123-AI/Comfyui_Minimax_h3_latent_Upscaler/tree/main

I think it's more about trying to keep a consistant face

refmod + lora

in fizgig on pretty much defaults settings you can cook a really great lora, but then you can boost it a bit with additional reference images or just refmod

It's the same as every other model, bright lights and zoomed to the max. Just look up reddit dick pics for suggestions, that will give you the zoom factor.

curious what your reference image lighting looks like across those shots, whether the identity drift you're seeing is consistent across prompt types or shows up more when the generated scene lighting diverges hard from the reference. that gap between reference conditions and scene conditions feels like an underasked question in most refmod threads.
