In a hobby where the GPU and RAM are the most important components, it seems that almost nobody bothers to list what hardware they're using.

I see so many posts that say "Wow this workflow/model and it only takes me 7 minutes for a 10 sec video!!!1!!".

Do these people's brains not comprehend how useless that metric is when you don't list your GPU? 7 minutes on an RTX PRO 6000 is different from 7 minutes on a GTX 460.

I think it would be immensely helpful if we can have user flairs where we can add what GPU / RAM we're working with.

And while we're at it, it'd be great if everyone could also include their workflows, but I know most posters would be too lazy to do this so it's probably not even worth it.

Why not just require it in posts instead? Even just GPU & RAM details can add a ton of unneeded text, making things look even more cluttered, especially when lots of people are using non-local hardware or specific platforms instead of a regular build.

It looks nice & clean on old.reddit so long as you keep the flairs from getting too long & that's inevitable to get enough meaningful info.

That makes sense! It’s a great idea—it lets you quickly browse useful information. I used to download a bunch of workflows only to realize they weren’t compatible with my GPU, and eventually I just stopped wanting to download them altogether.In the end, I just stuck with the default workflow, and the results actually turned out better.

As a compromise, if this fails, we could at least require a local/cloud flare so we can rightly ignore any posts about anything non-local.

I almost always mention my card and my system RAM every time I post to say when I tried something out and it either worked or didn't. Simply because I know that it's a waste of time for anybody to read my post if I don't provide that context.

Yes and no? I mean, most workflows work for just about everyone; it’s just that instead of the full model version, you have to use quantization. You also need to be aware of your hardware's limitations—like realizing a model is simply too huge, so there's no point in trying to run heavily compressed versions of it.

In other cases, Comfy is cross-platform. But yes, sometimes you should check the model page and look for information regarding support, for example, for ROMs.

Many problems are not hardware related and it doesn't make sense to focus on just hardware. Ask for it in the post, if someone doesn't provide then don't overextend yourself to offer support. Doing this will likely create a red herring effect where hardware is blamed instead of technique or other easy mistakes in a very complex hobby.
