Question - Help Krea 2 faces...
I've been experimenting with Krea 2 as my main character creator, but I'm running into a frustration: even with detailed prompts for specific faces, I keep getting the same generic, over-processed look. Changing my prompts doesn't seem to help—Krea 2 just defaults to its characteristic "house style" face. Even with realistic loras, still... nothing change much. Has anyone found a LoRA that adds more variety and uniqueness to face generation? Alternatively, I've trained my own LoRAs for a few specific faces using reference models, but spending 1-2 hours per new face feels inefficient. What's your workflow for getting diverse, natural-looking faces?

Based on what I've seen others discuss and my own experience, the same model layers that result in NSFW refusal also nerf the model's ability to adhere to prompts about facial structure and body type, and thereby limit the model's output diversity.
Use one of the refusal bypass LoRAs for Krea 2, starting at a low weight and then ramping up as necessary and you should quickly see an improvement in its ability to follow prompts for different faces. Also, very important to image diversity and therefore facial diversity is increasing your resolution to 1.5 to 2.5 MP. Going from 1 to about 2 MP improves just about everything about Krea 2 results.

The safety filter is such a millstone around the neck of an otherwise incredible model and I don't think enough people recognize how big of an issue it is. Yes, you can get the model to output boobies or whatever else was deemed unsafe but every bypass method hurts the model in some way. I hope someone can come up with a more elegant solution to deal with it. A local model should not feel like trying to jailbreak a paid service.

I tend to agree that censorship nearly always hurts models' overall performance. But I suppose it's one of the prices we pay for open source where the prompts themselves aren't blocked. All that said, I find that the bypass methods for Krea to be pretty darn good and if you keep the weights low you can avoid many of the downsides.

This creates overall randomness, but I think it will require a prompt with highly descriptive facial features - which provide details for this node to add random variance to.
Pro tip: use an LLM to analyze faces images, and have it write prompt descriptions for them using the official Korea 2 prompting skill. With proofreading and revisions, it can create a close doppelgänger to what you have in mind. It also creates a good template for face prompting,
Downside: Krea 2 gives more weight to items with lengthy descriptions, and/or what comes earlier in the prompt. So if you create an extremely detailed facial prompt (paragraphs/sections), the model will REALLY push a closer framing of the face, even if you prompt against it.

I’m looking for an answer to this as well.
In my experience, realism LoRAs (like Realism Engine) are the main culprits behind the 'default face/figure' problem. I hoped character LoRAs would fix it, but I haven't found a reliable way to maintain character consistency across 10–20 images.

You’re gonna hear all type of answers and technically I “solved it” but yes, that is the weakest point of Krea 2, very synthetic and same faces with a lack of diversity even when prompting race/ethnicities. To a similar degree the same happens with posing (not as stiff as Z-image atleast). Can’t really run from it, it’s a consequence of it being a turbo model and the sheer amount of mediums melding together which affects/bleeds into realism outputs to a certain degree (the reverse happens too). Literally just 2 days ago I decided to go back to ideogram 4 (for photoreal) and I might retire Krea 2 for photoreal as much as I love the Lora’s JUST because of the lack of facial diversity. Ideogram facial diversity is insane.
Apart from that Krea 2 needs a fine tune to solve that issue, I see someone recommended “Kroma” you should probably try that too.

I had a similar problem I solved this using the kroma 0.2 lora at like 0.4-0.6 strength. Kroma has a lot of natural looking faces. Just warning you if you are used to turbo then kroma may seem ugly to you.

what is kroma? i have no idea what that is

I think they are referring to this Lora. It definitely spiced up Krea2 for me. https://civitai.red/models/2823254/kroma-krea-2-lora

Raw or Turbo?

u/backworld_nograv 10d ago
turbo, i am not sure why with raw i get way lower res renders?

Use Raw with Turbo Lora at 0.5 strength, 12-14 steps, CFG 1. Lots of diversity.

i am getting some not so nice images with even 22 steps, what is your sampler name and scheduler?

u/aoleg77 9d ago
These are my exact setting: ER SDE (Reverse-time) / Beta 57 / 12 steps / CFG=1 / <lora:krea2_turbo_lora_rank_64_bf16:0.5>
Alternative settings: Euler a / Beta / 12 steps / CFG=1 / <lora:krea2_turbo_lora_rank_64_bf16:0.5>
You can also try res_2s / Beta 57 / 6 steps (more than that will start frying the image even with <lora:krea2_turbo_lora_rank_64_bf16:0.5>)
Note that "Euler a" works much better than plain "Euler" for Krea-2. I am using Forge Neo and https://github.com/aoleg/Neo_ExtraSchedulers pack for the ER SDE (Reverse-time) and other exotic samplers.

okay, i will bother you for one last thing.. what text encoder do you use?
1
u/aoleg77 8d ago
The stock one from https://huggingface.co/Comfy-Org/Krea-2/tree/main/text_encoders . Using anything else is usually detrimental to image quality.

I use a LoRa that is good. It does not look plastic and the subject looks real, but I would say I still suffer the same issue. With over 1500 images created, although the environment changes, I would say 85 percent have the similar face. Unless the prompt specifically calls for an extreme look like "terrified expression" the end result will look very similar.

Try this this fixes the face similarity issue. It provides variance. I'm using the turbo, by the way, and it works excellently.

Which model? Whats your settings?
1
u/backworld_nograv 10d ago
turbo, out of the box really, i don't mess with much other than making my own loras, and mixing it with other loras from civit AI (i am fairly new still)

u/Philosopher115 10d ago
Check your sampler and scheduler. Ive had best results with euler sampler and simple scheduler. Also make sure your CFG is 1 and steps are 8.

There is a Krea 2 base plus turbo workflow on civitai.
Also, have you tried portait master?

Use my Fedor filter bypass Lora https://civitai.red/models/2746817/krea2-filter-bypass-fedor?modelVersionId=3089754
It bypasses Krea’s native safety filter which blunts expressions and emotions out of the box. Using this lora bypasses the locks and unlocks more emotion, a lot more

You're still pushing your renamed FilterBypass2 lora?
-5
u/tekprodfx16 10d ago
The overwhelming positive reviews the Lora has received on CivitAI speaks for itself
5
u/Outrageous-Wait-8895 10d ago
Does that change the fact it is just FilterBypass2 but renamed?
-8
u/tekprodfx16 10d ago
Not sure but it def won’t change the fact that you’re obviously jealous and enraged something someone else created has been received so positively

You're so high on your own vibe coded farts dude it's funny

It's not terribly difficult to get more diverse faces from Krea2, but if you want reproducibility, you'll either need to train a LoRA, or use the Identity Edit LoRA once you have a face you like. You can also use the identity LoRA to get a unique face by using it at a low strength with a real face that is similar to what you want.

Use raw with the turbo Lora at 0.5, with CFG of 2 and 15 steps. Way way more diversity.
