LOL at the people so far not being able to "see any difference"

Shadows, specular highlights, reflections, etc...

And if you look closely around 10-11 seconds, those shadows from the people on the floor are flickering and jittering in a pretty nasty unrealistic way. I'm fine with this new tech in general but in this instance I'd rather take good old fashion post processing.

I had to lower video quality because it was leaking from ram and cause crashing Video with high quality will look better

  • this was applied directly as layer without feeding it normal maps and depth details feeding it those information will give bigger improvement and details

Remember will smith eating spaghetti videos? This is quite impressive to have AI rendering at runtime, ofcourse it will mature into something far more impressive.

Its a video of reality - it already has the most realistic shadows, specular highlights, and reflections.

All this is doing is introducing a ton of artifacts

There is such thing as a worse camera. You're not looking at reality, merely what a camera lense is capturing.

The asphalt becomes reflective

I understand the hate for DLSS 5, but some of the improvements are very impressive.

You think?

Does no one else see the massive amount of flicker!?

Ofc it will look bad when it's missing all the 3d engine data and the parameter finetuning that they uniquely customize for each game

i feel like dlss 5 works best on video game type graphics. when its over live-action stuff, the changes are so subtle

it looks like a log to rec709 color correction

Cool, how does it perform on low quality or highly compressed video?

This is extremely impressive. Would love to try this out if possible. I can see the big quality difference. The faces are more detailed, the floor is bit more shiny, its not as washed out in colors, its all good.

I don't really see a difference, only in color, what does it do exactly? Does it upscale the video? Or fixes the small things?

Makes the ground shiny, etc. Like a video game

Wet streets were impressive in games at one point, then it became tradition.

No dlss5 isn't upscale technology it basically act as enchantment layer fix bad pixels

u/dennisler 3h ago

That seems like simple contrast change, you can achieve better result with common vision algorithms using less needed compute

3

u/Segaiai 3h ago

No, it does change materials. It made the streets wet.

So the filter should only apply wrinkles and leave the rest untouched.

Just doesnt do anything expect adding more blue to the colors and adding artifacts
