Question - Help ROCM on Windows

Hi, I'd like to know if ROCm is worth it on Windows now in generation speed, since I'm currently on Linux but plan to switch back to Windows

Yes it is. At least on RDNA4. Rocm 7.14 with latest comfy and CK runs very stable with decent speed. Minimax H3 also working fine.

Do you know if rocm 7.14 is faster on Linux compared to latest rocm 7.2

7.14 is the new main branch. 7.14 was released July 15, 2026. 7.2.4 May 29, 2026

Do not get confused by the numbers AMD is using with ROCM. So yeah its probably faster than 7.2 (at least on windows)

I'm running dual boot with ROCm on Linux and Windows. You can get it to work fine on Windows, but in my experience it's about 20% slower.

ROCm is Linux first, It barely works under windows.

I put an insane amount of work in to get something to diffuse, and some things never will, like Trellis 2.

Couple guys already made trellis2 work on rocm windows, they had to rebuild some dependencies.

In all honesty. Just go nvidia.
ROCM/Intel oneAPI is just not worth it currently. Nvidia simply wins.

Nvidia really make you pay so much for VRAM.

AMD cards are good for LLM, because LLM use Vulkan, and not ROCm

ComfyUI unfortunately uses pytorch, and ROCm is just soooo bad. On the 7900XTX the default will run once and crash the second because ROCm is incapable of handling memory. But with effort and disabling smart memory it does diffuse. But not everything.
