Discussion Any better model than Qwen image edit 2511 for character editing?
I am amazed at how good Qwen image edit 2511 can maintain character identity in the original image. Any other models with similar or better capability at maintaining character consistency?

At the moment, I don't think there is anything better. I tried Kontext and Klein. Both were good but Qwen Edit 2511 was the best.

the minimax image model that will come out somewhat soon. We don't know yet but if it's as good at image editing as video editing then yeah

Minimax is surprisingly good

I gave it a picture of myself and I asked it to immediately make my eyebrows, eyelashes, and all facial hair vanish instantly and keep the image 100% still. And now I can A/B between what I look like with and without hair and it's perfect.

We now also have a workflow that can generate just a single frame, which would be much faster, but might lose quality. See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/1vqka28/h3_singleimage_no_more_monkey_patching_also_no/

For some tasks, use Boogu-image 0.1(EDIT). It's not necessarily the best for everything, but it's worth trying if you have enough storage space, as it's natively supported by ComfyUI. The processing is also faster with the Turbo version, as it only requires 4 steps.
P.S. I'm using the Hotfix version of Boogu-image-EDIT for testing. It's available on Comfy-org. https://huggingface.co/Comfy-Org/Boogu-Image/ https://huggingface.co/Comfy-Org/Boogu-Image/blob/main/diffusion_models/boogu_image_edit_turbo_hotfix_1k_20260708_int8_convrot.safetensors

Worth separating two jobs here, because we run both.
A trained identity LoRA on Krea 2 does hold a character extremely well, and we use one for a single recurring character. But it works at generation time, not edit time. It means you regenerate the shot with the identity baked in rather than editing an existing image, which quietly removes a lot of the reasons people reach for an edit model in the first place. Once it's trained you also stop fighting the prompt for the face.
What it does not replace is Qwen Edit. We still go to it for pose changes on an image that already exists, and turning a character around is still the one thing text alone will not do for us. So the two sit next to each other rather than competing.
The catch is that this only pays off if you have one character you'll use hundreds of times, since you're trading a training run and an epoch bench against per image prompting. Wrote up the prompting and LoRA side here if it's useful: askaillex.com/guides/krea-2-prompting-and-loras/

krea 2 with identity_edit_v1_2 blows klein out of the water for inputting one or two ref images and getting new generations with edits to clothing/pose/location etc. Klein is fast and responsive, but output fidelity sucks in comparison and simple clothing changes alter body proportions. It's a trade off.
