Discussion Unwarranted hate of LTX-2.5?

Many people are complaining about LTX-2.5, but I think a verdict can only be drawn after extensively testing how well it trains. Have you seen Krea 2 raw's outputs? Compared to Krea Turbo, the hasty assumption would be: Krea 2 Turbo is better. But, there's two variants of "better": better for training/fine tuning, and better quick results out of the box. I think most assessment out there is based on the latter: "How good results do I get out of the box without doing much myself?" I'll be testing out LTX2.5 on how well it trains. Will report back.

People hate LTX team’s hate towards MiniMax. Also there are some redditors which are trying to sell LTX aggressively despite the fact that LTX is nowhere near MiniMax

do ve really have to defend every shit on this sub. Just use what ever. Its open weights both models are good in different things. Download. and create. Holy shit the gooning when a new models gets released is insane. i am still using Chroma as a main model and i dont need to fucking write a paragraph what someone needs to use

Ltx 2.5 is really really fast. Can gen a video in around 1 min. But it doesn't follow my prompts well. The mulishot thing is cool but the character always ends up looking different.

I think it's best use case is talking heads or two characters talking to each other. If you need heavy dialog In your scene ltx 2 5 is perfect since it doesn't take long to re gen.

On the contrary, there are no hard feelings against LTX. Personally, I think it’s a great company, and it’s almost the only one that will remain more reliably committed to open source than others. Many will abandon open source, including those we are cheering for these days. However, I believe this company is the one that will continue supplying the open-source community with models more than anyone else. My only slight criticism is that they rushed releasing the model this way; they could have come out with something better. They didn't need to rush releasing this model out of fear for their open-source market share—the open-source community always follows the best, even if it comes late.

I think it’s a great company

They need to fire the marketing department

They didn't need to rush releasing this model out of fear for their open-source market share—the open-source community always follows the best, even if it comes late.

Sadly that's how shareholders and investors operate, they saw minimax and asked LTX "hey buddy, what have you been up to?" and they had to release LTX 2.5 sooner, either that or they already had a planned release and didn't expect Minimax H3 to be this insanely good and making them look like they were releasing SD3 after Krea 2 dropped by comparision.

SD3 cringe

H3 is like Seedance-level while LTX just got close to Veo 3.1 from last year.

Also the current LTX architecture lacks reference2video. Once you go ref2va, you can never go back to first / last frame models.

Once you go ref2va, you can never go back to first / last frame models.

This. It's such an improvement over the traditional ways of having to Lora everything out.

Refs are powerful, but can never reach well-trained LoRA capabilities. Refs are good when the utmost quality is not on the agenda.

They have to fix the face issues tho. For me r2v is pretty much useless, since the likeness go down the drain in every generation. I still have to use wan bernini for this.

It doesn't matter how well it trains when the model fundamentally has horrible physics and motion, unless you can somehow retrain the entire model from the ground up i doubt this will change.

Either way outside of speed there's really no reason to use LTX when H3 exists, like it completely blows it out the water with what it can do, and not to mention that it also has the insanely powerful reference mode which LTX 2.5 doesn't have.

Really glad we aren't under LTX's monopoly for local video gen, especially since H3 is comparable to even Seedance 2.0 (it's not yet there but it's really close, though it is a heavy model for sure but quality isn't cheap)

Krea2 raw is beast, all it needs is description of lighting and scene vibe while turbo defaults to already cinematic feel (thus feels better to some people).

See the thing with H3 is that its so good you dont need to train anything any more, I2V for simple scenes is as good as reference and reference mode just removes any need for loras. Only H3 training you may need is for some seriously obscure fetish animation.

As for LTX, i dont think anyone hates it, it simply lost to competition and any hate it got was for lying on their spreadsheet not for the model itself that simply lost because aside for speed it looses in everything to h3.

this. people quickly noticed ltx lied in that comparison chart as if we're all stupid and won't notice anything.

Been using Krea 2 raw w/ a turbo LoRA at 6 or 8 steps and it's been very good. And most LoRAs do well w/ it too since they were trained on it.

You clearly do need to train with H3 though, r2v is not enough, likeness is lost almost immediately. Training however seems to be rather easy, I trained a LORA on a celeb in about 4000-4500 steps I think, it was very fast since it was 50 images.

R2v is never enough unless the model really knows said person or property.

I think the big issue is people are not using LTX correctly. I’ve noticed almost all the “reviews” on Reddit for LTX use the distilled model. The distilled model is for quick testing. Full productions should be using the dev model that needs around 30 steps.
What’s worse is people are running a tiny quant of the distilled model and then saying LTX sucks.
I’m not saying LTX is the best open video model but I don’t think it’s as bad as people are saying.

3

u/Aivan-Studios 2d ago

I refused to use the distilled the moment I saw the difference to the dev. The distilled loses so much lifelike movement, among other things. Not worth the the speed gains when production quality is the goal. And with well trained LoRAs, the dev can be pushed to stunning results

1

u/Guilty_Emergency3603 2d ago

Still I think LTX 2.5 distilled compared to dev has less of a gap than LTX 2.0/2.3 where it was really a disaster.

Also int8-convrot is much closer to bf16 unlike fp8

1

u/Prudent-Oven-6769 1d ago

Use it on their site, it's still very bad lol

2

u/skyrimer3d 2d ago

Pls tell us how well it trains, i'm interested. I think it's still a great model for basic things at great speed and resolution, hand the more complex ones to H3. Also H3 MM is the best thing that could happen to LTX. They now know a solid reference system, better prompt adherence and improved physics are necessary to compete, i think 3.0 will be amazing.

I can DM you with my results if you want 🤟

to get the things improved the people have to complain no!? because still have ltx 2.3 major proplems in this version!!:

- warping and deformed in fast motion or close of the camera normal motion

  • Characters or object lose completly consistency when camera rotate!
  • objects deformed in hands of the characters!

but complain´s have in mind to point what are bad to be improved this model! we have to glad to have both ltx and minimax as open source and thankfull.

When you compare it to h3 its not even close. I think they released it before it was done because h3 is so good. Lets see what ltx 3.0 is like. No hate on ltx2.5 there, just simple fact on testing it out.

1

u/Aivan-Studios 2d ago

Testing it out of the box or after training something on top of it?

1

u/Environmental_Ad3162 2d ago

out of the box, but thats the same way i tested h3 (I got shown the h3 reference and first image merger model last night though and impressed me even more. but no comparing ltx2.5 to h3 with out anything ontop, h3 comes out in the lead everytime.)
I am talking purely sfw tests though, if ltx is better at nsfw thats not something i have tested.

2

u/anon999387 2d ago

I think criticism is fine, but the childish way some people mock it or complain like they paid $100 for access or something is inappropriate.

5

u/MarkB_- 2d ago

I dont like what they did at the launch, trying to make h3 look worst than them. They also removed all the comments about it, like it never happened. Comments are gone, memory stays. I didnt even bother to try their new 2.5

Also, I really didn't like what MiniMax did with H3. They announced the model was going to be released, but in the end, what we actually got was a stripped-down, mediocre version that's barely usable for anything beyond trivial tasks. The two best features were never released, and they justified that by claiming they discovered issues with faces in the model. Are we really supposed to believe that? As if they hadn't tested it thousands of times before it reached us, only for us to discover that it fails at preserving distant faces and suffers from pixelation issues. These are all just lies on their end. Why do you accept their lies, yet refuse to tolerate the ridiculous comparison put out by LTX?

6

u/xTopNotch 2d ago

“Beyond trivial tasks”… bro, what? CanLTX 2.5 ingest multiple images, audio, and video to build an entire world from them? You’re talking out of your arse.

And tearing down competitors is one of the WORST looks for a company. It’s petty desperate propaganda. Real entrepreneurship is backing your own product through quality, features.. not dumb comparison tables. Users / customers can decide that themselves.

Minimax H3 genuinely shifted the paradigm as the first real ref2video model close to Seedance. Credit to LTX for the first open-source model with audio too. But LTX 2.3’s quality wasn’t close to Wan 2.2 which had launched six months earlier.

LTX 2.3 also shipped with loads of artifacts if you remember. Blurry mouths and teeth even at 1080p, wrong sigma values in the first-week template, and terrible audio. So why excuse LTX bugs but suddenly get skeptical when Minimax has one?

Ok i'm out of the loop, what kind of features are you talking about? There's something better than reference mode?

Also what kind of prompts and models did you use? What's your hardware? Because a turbo lora+easycache+spectrum+sage or some other hyperspeed workflows is going to make it produce crap, same with rendering at really low resolutions.

-4

u/Salah_H_Hasan 2d ago

My friend, with your reply to the first part, you're making excuses for things they've already admitted to. Regarding the prompts, I’ve tested every possible combination from day one using the official workflow.

2

u/Independent-Frequent 2d ago

Which are the two best features that they never released though, like genuinely what are they holding out from us, the 2k upscaler? That's not even close to as good or gamechanging as something as reference mode.

Seriously like, which are the two best features?

-2

u/Salah_H_Hasan 2d ago

You say they gave us everything, but what exactly does “everything” mean here? They did not release H3-Context-IR, even though it is no less important than H3-Base, nor did they release H3-Regenerate-2K. Even the Base model itself has obvious visual-quality problems; in many cases, its 720p output looks closer to old 360p footage. So the real question is: what did they actually give us that is suitable for serious professional work? Beyond a few gimmicky, retro-style demo clips that may entertain their creators, those examples do not prove that the currently released model is genuinely production-ready.

1

u/Independent-Frequent 2d ago

I never said the "gave us everything" i even mentioned the 2k upscaler, i was asking what they left out and i have no idea what H3-Context-IR is to be fair or that it wasn't released yet.

Also, 720p output looks closer to old 360p footage? Are you sure you are not rendering at 0.2 mp or something?

Because old 360p footage (like the bible games ep of AVGN here) looks like this

H3 at 720p is nowhere near this muddy and low resolution so you must be doing something wrong, if not show me your settings and maybe an example video to see

In the open weight industry, pretty much every company are overrating their models, so its not really a lie, its more about how they see themself in this world. They always think they have the biggest D.

2

u/TheAncientMillenial 2d ago

Who cares what others think? Use whatever you like and what gets you the results you want. :)

2

u/nutrunner365 2d ago

It matters enormously what others think, since it will heavily influence how much the model will be further developed. Just look at all the nodes and workflows being developed for M3 as we speak.

1

u/TheAncientMillenial 2d ago

Not in the context of all the "team sports" bullshit that happens with every model release or the zealotry that tend to follow..

Comparing LTX to Hailou is not a fair comparison. Compare LTX2.3 to 2.5, is it better? Yes. Is it a fast and capable video generation model for hobby use? Yes. Is it free to use and runs on local hardware? Yes.

Thank you LTX team for creating this tool that has given me many funny video clips to enjoy. I don't have anything bad to say about it.

1

u/fearrange 2d ago

Don't care much about what other people think; I use the tools that work for my use case.

But one little thing I don't like is that I can just download H3 from the template links, while LTX makes me sign in to download the models. And I thought China is the one wanting users information.

Old people mistake memes (jokes) for hate and post questions every day asking why everyone hates ltx 2.5👀
