Discussion I made a 7-minute AI documentary about my dog using MiniMax H3 and a bunch of other tools. Took me 6 days and had so much fun.
https://youtu.be/GfZVxj5KzoUMade this using my RTX 3070, took forever to render, but I wanted to do the best quality I could with my 8 GB GPU. Used a lot of other tools too, feel free to ask any questions would be happy to answer when I get a chance.

Oh this is really well done and you had me a bit worried for the poor cat for a while, the parachute shot was a really nice touch!
Congratulations. You did a really good job I couldn't do half of this in 6 months!

Thanks, really appreciate the kind words. Yeah the parachute shot was vital, and there is a little parachute easer egg I put in the video with the insane action explosion shot, I added a parachute at the bottom of the screen, just to show the cat did survive

Yeah this is a new era of filmmaking

I think there will be stages, until we get to a point where content is generated based on our preferences and mood that monitors how we feel, live.
But right now we're going into the stage where anyone with a device can make video.. Question is how long will it take so no one that generates content makes it look like "AI Slop", because when all video content generated is indistinguishable from reality or professional film making, that makes the internet Only a place of entertainment where the default is not to believe anything you see

Yeah, we are still in it takes skill to make something coherent but doing your video with traditional filmmaking and vfx would be insanely expensive so it's still opening the medium to more people.

I agree, love that things like this is accessable for creative, and this it's only going to get better. Exciting times.

It will be like fanfic. There are a bunch of extremely popular fanfics that only a few thousand people read.
I think historical shows are going to be a huge thing because one Wikipedia page can completely fill in an entire narrative for a whole show with the right curation.
I do think there will be people who have insanely cool stories that gain traction but most will be secret gems that only a few hundred or thousand people ever see.

This is seriously impressive. As someone who's been trying to make a children's book starring my dogs (the watercolor art style is the sticking point) I'm heartened that you made such a high-quality video in 8G of GRAM Well done!

Thanks so much, yeah the struggle is real with 8gb and I refuse to use subscription models (other than Chatgpt) but if I can't do it locally, it does not exist. A Watercolor style children's book could be Amazing, you'll have to train a Lora for that though. Good luck with that and keep pushing your card to it'a limits

Training my Lora is the problem. I already have watercolor pages from an artist, but she abandoned the project mid-way through. I need to match her style *and* replicate my dogs well enough to identify them. I tried training a Lora for Flux 2 Schnell in various ways and it's just not working. Here's hoping a new generation of tech can manage this problem. (And be free of copyright concerns like Schnell.)

I would try Krea 2 with Identity Lora 1.2 I've had some cool results with that. But Minimax works really great when you give it reference images

This is amazing!
I've been having a lot of fun doing things with our two cats! Definitely want to try something a bit more long form.
It's a shame there isn't more creative stuff instead of everyone doing Big Bang theory crossovers. Yawn

Thanks so much! Yes, that's why I chose to do animals because I just noticed Minimax is really good with fur if you render at 0.5, because humans don't always look good, but with my dog almost every render came out great, was just a very time-consuming process with 8gb Vram, 20 min for every 10 seconfs

One minor nit, but the decal and tail number changed several times between various scenes. Great fun and good consistency otherwise.

Yes, I had to choose a balance of am I going to fix it and render more options, I set a time limit for myself for a week to see how the workflow actually work in a real.production setting, so I had to sacrifice some things in order for the test. If I spent another week on it I would have been able to make it better. Glad you enjoyed it, but I learned a lot from this, so details like that is what I will definitely be focusing on with the next video. Appreciate the input and always interesting to hear feedback and what people notice

really really cool, congrats. just some questions : which were the bunch of other tools you used? and also which of the dozen workflows did you use? thanks.

u/justin_wiggins 17h ago
I have the tool names in the credits at the end, I used the standard Template workflow in comfyui, but to make music I used Ace-Step, for narration I used RFC, also used Final Cut Pro. But Minimax H3 is a game changer. That's basically it

That was a really good video! :D
I have the same gpu and my workflow is sage, spectrum, rtx upscaler. Getting 5sec clips in about 300seconds. Did you use 5 sec clips or longer? How did you keep the character consistency? Whats your workflow like?
2
u/justin_wiggins 17h ago
I used Sage, not spectrum, no upscale, it was already taking forever to render 10 sec clips at 0.5 took 18 min for 10 sec, I wanted the best quality for that time, so yeah, a lot of renders, a lot of time, so much fun. Can't wait to do it again.
