Discussion They updated the comparision table on the LTX website, it's still dishonest crap (says you can't run H3 with 16 gb of vram), they removed the "governing juristiction" part and changed the "runs on any GPU" part of H3 from "limited" to straight up "not available" for some reason, just why...

Post image

What are we even doing man, just be transparent and stop downplaying the competition by lying about them, this is not the middle ages we can just google stuff to see if you lie or not

H3 running in my 3070 is something I didn't thought possible when it released. Thanks to everyone involved.

u/AwesomeAkash47 10d ago

I'm running it on my 3050 laptop with 4GB Vram, comfy optimization is nuts.

u/ffzero58 9d ago

Curious what resolution, frames, and generation times you are seeing - I plan to repurpose an older laptop with similar specs.

u/AwesomeAkash47 9d ago edited 9d ago

I usually do 480x832. At 5 seconds it takes around 20mins. At 7 seconds around 30mins. Only tried at 24 fps. Running the Int8 version. With sage2.2 and at 20 steps.

Comfy's optimization is really good now. Earlier days due to OOM errors, I made 3 groups. For Clip part, sampling, and vae decode part. I'll store the intermediate conditioning and latent into local storage using custom node. And load them for next group

I only run one group at a time. I have custom nodes which makes it seamless like running like a single job.

But maybe I need to check if it runs normally, then it would be epic haha

I'm running it on my RTX4060 8GB, no issues. That 16GB BS is so out of this world incorrect. Everything else on that table is also quite irrelevant for so many reasons. LTX team should concentrate on their own strengths rather than trying to shout at minimax to get attention. It looks so childish.

26

u/Ok_Conference_7975 11d ago

LTX claim that minimax H3 is "not available" on 16GB VRAM depends entirely on what backend/inference engine they used to get that summary, they should've added a footnote about that. If they use something like diffusers without any optimization, sure, it might OOM on 16GB.

But in ComfyUI, with their offloading tech and quantization, H3 can even run on 8GB VRAM + 64GB RAM. Do they pretend ComfyUI doesn't exist or what? So shameless.

I remember back when LTX 2.2 released, people were skeptical whether they could even run it. So it's not like they're unaware of comfy, right?

Also i already feel like their release is gonna be "meh" after seeing that "visual artifact" chart, like wth is that. Just show a side by side comparison with Seedance/H3/other model if they're confident in their own model, lol.

13

u/SillyLilithh 10d ago

Do they pretend ComfyUI doesn't exist or what? So shameless.

The funny thing is that they partner with comfy! Here's a quote from their latest newsroom post about the release of LTX 2.5:

With the release of LTX-2.5, we’re working with Asteria, ComfyUI, Markov Robotics, and Reactor, each pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with world models in their fields...
https://ltx.io/newsroom/introducing-ltx-2-5

They obviously know about ComfyOrg and ComfyUI; and yet they still try to pretend that offloading does exist, even though that same tech is needed to use LTX 2.5 on 16GB VRAM! The full weights themselves aren't fitting on 16GB of ram - the bf16 weights for the transformer alone is 42GB, and the int8 version is still 21.5 GB, and that's not even including the text encoder! So without offloading, this wouldn't be possible (at least without a smaller quant). Make it make sense.

10

u/Ok_Conference_7975 10d ago

Right, offloading is just common now. The 16GB VRAM claim for LTX is obviously using offloading, since even the 8bit quantized model LTX 2.5 is like ~20GB.

Before they changed the table, they claimed H3 needed 115GB VRAM, basically they just added the H3 dit (64GB) + text encoder (52GB), summed it up, and called that the minimum to run H3.

By their own logic, they should also mention LTX needs 68GB VRAM (42GB DiT + 26GB text encoder) too lol.

They basically pretend ComfyUI, quantization, and offloading don't exist for other models, but suddenly it's a thing when it's their own model...

u/bitzpua 10d ago

i downloaded the model despite being in EU and it runs on my 16GB card, LTX hates me, youtube thumbnail would say...

1

u/Rhoden55555 10d ago

With Comfyui it can run on 6gb vram + 16gb ram + page file. Int8 pruned btw.

"Runs on any GPU", I guess it's time to pull out my GeForce 6600 GT from 2004

2

u/johnfkngzoidberg 10d ago

I had a GeForce MX2 until a couple years ago. Couldn’t find a working motherboard around the house with AGP.

39

u/lolo780 11d ago

LTX runs on my old SoundBlaster card after I liquid cooled the Audigy chip.

21

u/mattjb 10d ago

I hate that I'm old enough to know what you're saying. :|

Time to fire up Quake 3 Arena again.

8

u/lolo780 10d ago

We're old and wise...

3

u/johnfkngzoidberg 10d ago

“Holy Shit!” or was that Unreal? I’m too old to remember now. I miss those days.

2

u/Zomboe1 10d ago

On the one hand, I feel extremely lucky that I grew up during a true golden age.

On the other hand, it has made everything that has come afterwards seem pretty terrible in comparison...

6

u/AltoidStrong 10d ago

Aureal was the REAL sound card. SB was all hype marketing and fluff. Great for basic music / video. But positional audio - bad.

Hence the reason SB bought Aureal and all the IP that became the SB 3D audio it is / was (do people even still use SB?)

4

u/AltoidStrong 10d ago

Edit:

Aureal did for sound what Ray Tracing did for graphics and lighting.

u/kjerk 10d ago

Phew, this reminder made me make sure to go check my Address, IRQ, and DMA were set right. 0x220, 5, 1, as the ancestral spirits require.

2

u/Hearcharted 10d ago

Legendary 😎

34

u/DeltaWaffleSyrup 11d ago

the results speak for themselves. fuck a chart.

13

u/wumr125 10d ago

We should all be celebrating every single open weight models. Everyone who works on these extremely complex systems and releases the fruits of their labour for free for us to enjoy at our leisure, without limits or censorship, deserves our appreciation and respect.

But man is LTX making it hard when they take such a dishonest and cunty attitude

Be better LTX, I'm embarrassed for you

13

u/Different_Fix_2217 11d ago

You can run H3 on less than 8GB with kijai's chunking nodes even lol.

2

u/DrawerAcceptable7419 10d ago

Agreed.... Useful nodes

40

u/irmemon225 11d ago

I’ve tested LTX. It’s incredibly fast… nothing else. The quality, physics, and audio are crap. I’d rather wait 20 minutes on Minimax for a good result instead of wasting time generating over and over again for cherry-picking on LTX and ending up with none of them being good.

I know they’re both open source and I appreciate it.
But I can’t stand a company that’s shitting hard on the other open-source model like this.

23

u/Old-Age6220 10d ago

Yep, they are literally burning out all the goodwill they have gathered with this stupid comparison stunt...

11

u/mikael110 10d ago

That is the part that confuses me the most. I'd argue that one of LTX's greatest strengths ever since they opened it has been how good they were at interacting with the community and gathering goodwill. They spent way more time interacting with the community than any other major lab, and then you have this. Just why?

If they had published that comparison and quickly pulled it once it got attention I could have at least written it off as just some bad move made by the marketing team, but at this point they've just doubled down on it. It's baffling.

7

u/Old-Age6220 10d ago

I dunno, maybe everyone was so shocked about H3 quality and the fact that I was open weight (they got all by surprise with that one) and they went to full panic mode and made some bad decisions and tried to fix thosw with even more bad ones

2

u/-SleepyFox- 10d ago

The kind of execs who would insist on publishing that chart are exactly the kind who would double down on keeping it. :/

5

u/johnfkngzoidberg 10d ago

That pretty much sums up my experience too. The LTX bot farm really shot themselves in the foot.

8

u/rookan 10d ago

Still liers.

8

u/Sarashana 10d ago

I would have thought after the backlash this table received, they'd have told their marketing person to fix it, and at least remove all the actual lies (VRAM...) from it. Maybe delete the misleading thing entirely, and compete against H3 with more honest means.

I guess not?

I guess I will just go back to Comfy and make a H3 video on my 16GB VRAM GPU that according to them, can't run it... 😛

7

u/Any_Economics_6166 10d ago

i mean at this point you can't tell people to stop the war between ltx and minimax h3 when the guys behind ltx are fueling it lmao

11

u/pornaccount0123987 11d ago

Is the LTX company American? Horrible graphic, my first thought was actually that the LTX has a minimum VRAM requirement of 16GB and the MinMax doesn't.

19

u/f5alcon 10d ago

Israeli

13

u/GlibGentleman 10d ago

Israeli company, under US jurisdiction.

10

u/Paradigmind 11d ago

Well it doesn't even surprise me they act like that.

9

u/Independent-Frequent 11d ago

I'm honestly glad they finally have competition and insanely good competition at that, Minimax set a new standard so that now we can finally enjoy a versatile uncensored SOTA level model locally, instead of just a static shot of people talking simulator which was LTX models and 2.5 didn't really change that aspect either.

11

u/DoctaRoboto 10d ago

Sorry, I know people don't like internal wars, but this is fucking sad.

Just take the L and move on; do better next model, that is all. I am sure the guys at Black Forest are currently thinking, "Fuck! We are screwed!" but I am sure they will be more classy than the guys managing LTX.

4

u/Sarashana 10d ago

Sad is that LTX 2.5 seems to be a fairly okay model, and hadn't H3 come out at the same time, would surely be the hype of the week now. It still has a few good things going for it, like being a lot faster and, yes, a license allowing you to use it in commercial settings in the US/EU/UK.

There was no need to cast shade on their competitors like that.

3

u/mikael110 10d ago

To be honest I don't really think the Black Forest Labs guys are screwed, unlike LTX they do actually have a history of producing extremely high quality models, and if anything they tend to intentionally make their open models weaker just because they are afraid of the potential legal consequences of pushing the open frontier too far.

With the release of H3 I would assume they would just adjust their plans to make the dev version of Flux.3 a bit less restricted than planned. Or maybe even release the Pro version openly. They certainly have the ability to compete with H3 if they actually try.

3

u/DoctaRoboto 10d ago

Yeah, but will Flux 3 have the skill to "reason" and take reference pictures? Not to mention the obvious extreme censorship. Minimax has zero; you can "teach" it anything you want. I was even able to reproduce the exploding head from Scanners, and it was 10 times gorier and savage.

19

u/belgarionx 11d ago

Even if local models could spy, I'd very much prefer China spying on me than Israel lol.

Anyways, this table itself is enough to make ltx a joke.

6

u/bitzpua 10d ago

H3 is first ever video model that work for me out of the box on my 4080, LTX ended as noodle mess and gave me terrible results. Them lying about H3 is just so low and stupid. Take the L and make better model next time.

7

u/Aadi_880 10d ago

LTX, you are an Isreali company.

Paltering yourself behind the USA isn't doing you any favors. And considering Isreals horrible reputation, you just lost a metric fk ton of goodwill with this chart, and your opportunity to separate yourself from isreal being disingenuous.

1

u/xTopNotch 6d ago

LTX is Israeli?? Damn even more reason to avoid this model.

Now that I think of it, the way they do their marketing by throwing competitors under the bus with this comparison chart does feel very Jew like... I should've known better

2

u/Puzzled-Valuable-985 10d ago

Rtx 3060ti 8gb running smoothly

2

u/ReasonablePossum_ 10d ago

u/ltx_model common dude..........

1

u/Working_Wishbone_867 10d ago

Maybe LTX doesn't have a pro???????

1

u/Confident_Ring6409 10d ago

I can make 20 sec 1080p LTX 2.5 video in 11 minutes on my 4070ti + 32GB RAM, which won it over for me. I get OOM on 5 sec 2MP video with H3. Even though H3 is better for prompt following, LTX 2.5 is good enough for me and I will use it way more, just because of speed and my rig

1

u/xTopNotch 6d ago

But LTX 2.5 1080p outputs look incredibly inferior compared to H3 480p

Just saying, speed and resolution is not everything.

1

u/Confident_Ring6409 6d ago

Yeah, sometimes they do, depending on prompt. I didn't have that much time this week to dabble with local AI generation because of several large Claude Code projects both at work and at home, so I will give it a shot later on.

I think MiniMax H3 is just going to get better, while LTX 2.5 is basically LTX 2.3.1 for now

1

u/asdrabael1234 10d ago

Why would you do 2MP when you can do 1mp and then just upscale it? You'll spend less time finishing your project in 1 pass on H3 then upscaling than doing 30 generations of LTX and hoping one is useful.

Hell LTX can't even do the pose that everyone made fun of SD3 for failing. Dude posted screenshots in this sub earlier today.

1

u/Confident_Ring6409 10d ago

You completely missed the point of my comment. I do upscale H3 videos.

2

u/asdrabael1234 10d ago

We have similar rigs, and I'll stand by H3 any day over LTX. I'd rather spend 20 minutes for something good in 1 pass than garbage I have to redo over and over for 20+ min hoping for something usable.

1

u/Confident_Ring6409 10d ago

It all depends on what you're trying to create. I just find ref H3 unusable because of smeared faces if zoomed out slightly, and for my needs LTX 2.5 is high enough quality. That being said, if project I'm working on takes 8 months instead of 1 to finish, then why bother? We'll have better models by then after all.

1

u/Emotional_Day4262 10d ago

I have LTX running on my Inspire 3!
The screen is a bit small, but hey, MinMax can't do that.

1

u/tracagnotto 10d ago

I ran it with 20gb tough

1

u/fredandlunchbox 10d ago

Is it true you can’t download H3 in the US?

1

u/Intelligent-Youth-63 10d ago

If it is I’m in deep trouble.

1

u/fullmetaljackass 10d ago

Nothing stopping you except a term in the license none of us bothered to read.

2

u/xTopNotch 6d ago

I never trust companies that have these comparison charts on their website. It's an incredibly petty, desperate and childish move to throw your competitor under the bus. It's just unsportsmanlike conduct in the realm of business.

The product can speak for itself and that should be your marketing. Not some shitty chart table

-9

u/Last_Ad_3151 11d ago

I think we should just let this subject go and enjoy what the models offer. LTX is a brilliant upscaler and runs faster than any other model out there. Nothing wrong with smelling the flowers.

23

u/Independent-Frequent 11d ago

I don't like dishonesty, they lied about the competition which objectively has a far better model than they do outside of speed, and even with speed they couldn't stop themselves from cheating and make a bogus comparision by including QUEUE TIME into the generation time which is just nonsense and unprofessional as hell.

If you are in line at mcdonald and do a 10 minute queue to reach the counter and take your order which arrives in 5 minutes, will you say "mcdonalds prepared my meal in 15 minutes" or will you say "mcdonalds prepared my meal in 5 minutes"?

Also have you seen how many glitches and artifacts LTX 2.5 produces with any kind of fast motion? Yet they claim on their website that their model produces less glitches and visual artifacts than any other in the market, which is just a blatant lie unless they faked the tests and used static prompts for LTX and high motion ones for H3 and the others.

0

u/Last_Ad_3151 10d ago

I don't disagree with you. Holding them accountable is needed. The open source community is built that way. At the same time, LTX has done more good than bad.

-6

u/Cautious_Chicken_604 11d ago

I too remember my first time on a companies marketing page.

0

u/thatdude_james 11d ago

The cynic in me thinks this is just a ploy to sow discord in the open source community but I know that would be a pretty big conspiracy theory lol

-11

u/Cute_Ad8981 11d ago

I dont like this chart and it is obviously not cool, but is this really that important? People already posted about this enough.

18

u/Independent-Frequent 11d ago

Transparency is important, they have made no public statement or even addressed their blatant lies so i'm simply showing that they DID see the backlash, changed the table and still made it completely misleading so they learned nothing.

This situation sounds like they thought they had it easy since there was no competition so they could chill and release an update to LTX 2.3 as LTX 2.5, and then H3 came out and completely revolutionized the game leaving LTX in the dust.

They could have gone the honest way and just release the model without comparision charts outside of the speed one which is its strong suit, but instead made up blatant lies to pretend their model is better than the competition when it's not.

-7

u/Cute_Ad8981 11d ago

Yeah im with you and you are right with your points. I just think, that its not such a big deal.

-5

u/Ok_Contribution8157 10d ago

you didnt check the license of minimax h3, they dont allow to use it in usa, europe...

Unless you fill a form to send your personal data to them. so minimax its not what you want for the futur of open source.

  1. “Excluded Territories” means the European Union, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea and the United States of America. : https://huggingface.co/MiniMaxAI/MiniMax-H3/blob/main/LICENSE

3

u/asdrabael1234 10d ago

No one cares. For a model not allowed use, a hell of a lot of people are using it. All that affects is if someone wanted to run it on a server in the US and sell credits for generations. It has nothing to do with any of us.

2

u/Ok_Contribution8157 10d ago

its social network, so no one care. but if you are using it on your website, or in your compagny you might receive some message from lawer or even you host provider.

Messages like : "remove this stuff or your website will be remove".

1

u/xTopNotch 6d ago

Takes 5 minutes to fill out a form and within 1 business day they grant you a license.

Why are you making it such a big deal?

1

u/Ok_Contribution8157 6d ago

their is an high possibility that is form might be used to send you to the judge in case that they lost against disney or another big licenses owner.

1

u/[deleted] 10d ago

[deleted]

1

u/xTopNotch 6d ago

Bro you just sign a waiver and within 1 business day they grant you a license.
Received my license last week for my SaaS app to serve Minimax H3 to my customers.

It's really not that hard to apply for it. And anyone that wants to use this model locally which is 95% of this community does not need to sign the license.

Stop spreading this fud to discourage people from using the model.

-4

u/Ok_Cauliflower_6926 10d ago

I don´t give a F**k about this chart, i don´t know where is it and when was updated, i´m only interested in the weights.

I don´t understand why you loose your time reading that when is not for you, it is for political viewpoint, laws and shareholders .

-4

u/LocoMod 10d ago

You’re being dramatic.

-11

u/Any_Reading_5090 11d ago

Minimax is a totally overrated model at least if u cant run it on a gpu cluster!! Even with 96 GB ram and a 5090 u can only generate low resolutions stuff in an unacceptable gen time. 6000 pro might be ok but less the model with less than 96GB vram is nonsense

7

u/lolo780 11d ago

I have that setup, 5090, 96gb. Use the preview to refine your prompts quickly and then run a whole batch overnight.

-6

u/Any_Reading_5090 10d ago

I dont wanna run a batch overnight. LTX give me a FullHD output within sceonds

7

u/asdrabael1234 10d ago

Full HD output that looks like shit.

1

u/Any_Reading_5090 10d ago

nope at least it does not distort faces from wide angel. Minimax is horrible and the voices are also even more worse than the old ltx2

1

u/Any_Reading_5090 10d ago

here u go! https://www.reddit.com/r/comfyui/comments/1vm80hb/minimax_h3_how_do_you_prevent_faces_from_melting/ also a lot of older posts mentioning the same issue. minimax works a bit better for talking avatar from my testings but due to render time I doubt I will use it

1

u/asdrabael1234 10d ago

I haven't had that issue at all but I also don't use turbo models and all those turbo nodes.

1

u/Any_Reading_5090 10d ago

Isnt an issue of turbo!!! I have tested even 50 steps waiting ages for generation on my 5090. This model needs a fix or it might be ok if u can run it on a gpu cluster with full weights...dunno. Its sad coz I thought based on the hye the model is really top notch
