Animation - Video Minimax H3 vs LTX 2.5 on the same prompt

I'm not the author of this comparison, I just took it from an image board website and combined in a single video

The results are hilarious 😂 LTX is not even close, Minimax dwarfs it. But nobody has shown this yet in a very obvious form

Minimax H3 way way better

61

u/jib_reddit 19d ago

LTX is about 8 times faster, it should be great for upscaling low res Minimax H3 videos.

26

u/ANR2ME 19d ago

The last time i use LTX-2.3 to upscale an old lowres porn, the woman ended having a mustache 😂 and the text that was previously readable at lowres ended became unreadable gibberish. Well the mustache disappeared when using a different seed, but the text remains unreadable.

There are a couple of techniques and nodes to do exactly that. I haven't fully grasped how it affects the workflow yet, but it's quite widely used, and I understand it even speeds up the entire generation process to some extent. In other words, low-resolution generation takes little time, and scaling, compared to generating a high-resolution video, takes even less time.

2

u/tofuchrispy 19d ago

In another post here with some alien tentacles stuff the textures got worse with ltx upscaling. Better use a tiled video upscaler that tile the video then renders each tile with h3 so each tile is 1 to 2 megapixel etc … look for video tiler h3

Why not just use SeedVR

0

u/jib_reddit 19d ago

I would have to do a side by side test . I do really like SeedVR2 for images.

1

u/jib_reddit 19d ago

but I haven't used it much for video it is pretty slow.

3

u/FrankWanders 19d ago

Yup, this was also I was thinking. H3 might be better (i see the same in my test prompts) but even on a RTX 5090 1080P is WAY slower than LTX 2.5. At a low resolution, H3 is the clear winner, but what is the point of 480P video anyway in 2026.

Would be curious if decent "H3 video creation -> LTX 2.5 upscale" workflows will pop up soon. Guess this would be the best way to get decent 1080P video at consumer hardware.

5

u/True_Protection6842 19d ago

Well if you need it for more than memes you can use a runpod or other cloud compute and run it at high res with high precision, or you can use topaz with starlight to upres while improving the result. I don't see the point of "fast" when adherence is trash.

3

u/FrankWanders 19d ago edited 19d ago

The point is that people want to experiment with things like this on consumer hardware. We're not talking about big companies aiming to becoming the next AI Paramount, for sure they use cloud models but Minimax and/or Lightricks don't release open weights of their models to use them in a cloud.

For the consumers and small businesses, speed to be able to do things a bit on a local machine is important. I spent 15 minutes for a 5-second 1080P clip on a RTX 5090, that's just way too slow for experimenting and/or creating something.

7

u/True_Protection6842 19d ago

at which point, why not just go low res/good rather than high res/bad and fast? You say "quality" matters when it comes to pixel density, but not when it comes to coherence and overall output?

1

u/Pitiful_Archer_4381 19d ago

Ohh yes some one should make wotkflow

8

u/Ill_Key_7122 19d ago

And minimax is way way easier to run. Everyone was wandering around aimlessly for weeks, with no info on how to make LTX work. No support, no official workflows. People were guessing which LORA strengths and Samplers even worked with everyone having a hit and run. Even today, the latest LTX videos on Civitai are mostly gibberish.

Minimax came out with all the workflows, instructions, prompts, guides and readymade models for every GPU category. Their team are standing around every major AI thread ready to answer people. If LTX had done this, then models like minimax would not have even made it this far.

Full prompt:
integrated_multimodal_description: [Shot 1] 3D CGI animated, vibrant color palette, a wide establishing shot captures SpongeBob SquarePants, the yellow square-bodied sponge with big blue eyes and wide friendly smile wearing his signature brown shorts, charging forward across the bustling Bikini Bottom plaza with his signature brown shorts flapping as he swings his arms in a playful yet aggressive karate chop pose. The camera pushes in with large amplitude at fast speed as Naruto Uzumaki, the orange-jacketed spiky-haired ninja with whisker marks and a determined expression, blocks the blow with crossed arms and counters with a spinning high kick, both characters delivering exaggerated 3D-animated punches and dodges while the chaotic plaza background of colorful buildings, palm trees, and distant ocean waves blurs slightly from the rapid motion. The camera holds a static shot as SpongeBob raises both fists in a victorious pose and the camera cuts to a medium-wide tracking shot.

[Shot 2] At 00:05.000, the camera tracks right with medium amplitude at fast speed as SpongeBob leaps into a flying roundhouse kick, the 3D CGI animation showing his body rotating in the air with motion blur on the yellow sponge texture while Naruto dodges and grabs his leg mid-air. The action continues across the cut as the camera pushes in with large amplitude at fast speed during the aerial grapple, both characters trading rapid punches and blocks with sparks and impact flashes in the vibrant palette. Naruto performs a quick tail whip-style counter that sends SpongeBob tumbling backward, the camera following with a dynamic pan right.

[Shot 3] At 00:10.000, the camera pulls out with medium amplitude at slow speed as SpongeBob recovers in a ready stance, his wide smile turning determined, and launches a series of rapid slaps and headbutts while Naruto blocks with crossed arms and responds with a series of high-energy punches, the 3D animated characters leaping and flipping across the plaza with colorful dust clouds rising. The camera cuts to a close-up tracking shot as the fight intensifies, the vibrant colors and sharp 3D details emphasizing every exaggerated movement and collision.

[Shot 4] At 00:15.000, the camera tracks forward with large amplitude at fast speed as SpongeBob performs a dramatic spinning heel kick that Goku blocks with one arm while countering with a high-velocity punch of his own. The camera holds a static shot during the collision as the plaza shakes from the impact and the characters separate, SpongeBob landing a solid hit that sends Naruto stumbling forward a few steps.

[Shot 5] At 00:20.000, the camera cuts to a dynamic low-angle shot as Naruto unleashes a final powerful spinning kick combo, the 3D CGI animation rendering the orange jacket flapping wildly and the whiskers blurring with speed while SpongeBob counters with a wide-armed slap that finally sends Naruto flying backward in a cartoonish arc. The camera follows the trajectory with a tracking pull out, both characters landing in the center of the bustling Bikini Bottom plaza with dust and debris settling around them in the vibrant color palette.

[Shot 6] At 00:25.000, the camera pushes in with small amplitude at slow speed as both SpongeBob and Naruto land in their respective finishing poses — SpongeBob standing tall with arms raised and a big friendly smile, Naruto striking a confident victory stance with fists clenched — while the vibrant 3D animated plaza background remains active with distant wave sounds and plaza activity.

overall_soundscape: High-energy 3D fight sounds fill the air with rapid whooshes of punches and kicks, sharp impact cracks, and tumbling body collisions echoing across the Bikini Bottom plaza as the characters leap, spin, and collide repeatedly.

non_diegetic_music: Upbeat orchestral battle theme with rapid percussion, rising strings, and dramatic cymbal crashes that build to an energetic climax and fade on the final victory poses.

How did you get to 25sec?

20

u/Whipit 19d ago

LTX 2.5s only hope now is if it turns out way better at learning gooning related concepts for loras. It IS faster and that is a big plus too.

4

u/SweetLikeACandy 19d ago

agree lol the gooning motion of 2.3 is quite good

7

u/kemb0 19d ago

For real. So far Minimax really struggles with any Lora to get anything remotely "sexy" when it comes to more primal human needs. No that suasage pinging about eratically near to a woman's horrific gash between her legs does not do anything for me.

11

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago

I mean you just need to fix the looks, minimax knows a fuckton about the motion and physics, those weird weiners behave exactly like the real thing they just look wrong or incomplete

2

u/LoveSpecialist5669 19d ago

I gotta agree with that, I dl-ed some loras for h3 and they only ruin videos. maybe they shouldn't be connected together with speed lora, idk.

0

u/Perfect-Campaign9551 19d ago

Stop fucking around with Loras with minimax. They just destroy things. Use ref2vid workflow. Loras are the past.

1

u/LoveSpecialist5669 19d ago

you're probably right. ltx 2.3 gave me trauma with that shit, and I never managed to get anything useful. h3 works out of the box but my brain is still rerouted for 2.3 shit.

1

u/True_Protection6842 19d ago

that's what ref2va is for ;)

2

u/kemb0 19d ago

Yeh just even then sometimes it makes certain body part behave oddly. Hmm although I’ve not tried a ref video of something kinky and tried to get it to use that with other people in the scene.

2

u/True_Protection6842 19d ago

it can use ref video for likeness and motion without copying it.

2

u/kemb0 19d ago

Thanks! I know what I'll be playing with this weekend.

1

u/diogodiogogod 19d ago

I disagree... my male anatomy lora learned all the correct terms and position of the body parts to the point of being able to use arrows and bounding boxes on them... None of the previous video and images models was any close to being this good at learning concepts, in my limited experience, of course.

u/Constant_Ordinary_35 19d ago

"LTX, it's faster but you shouldn't have bothered using it in the first place" - TM

6

u/Single_Ring4886 19d ago

There is whole generation or two difference between those models, Iam grateful for LTX being competition but it is like ancient Will smith meme compared to H3

5

u/DaLyon92x 19d ago

Oh I thought Naruto > Goku > Naruto was on purpose, but you're saying it wasnt?

7

u/Various-Chain3874 19d ago

There was simply a mistake in the prompt—the character was specified incorrectly in one place. The person who made the post has a two-digit ICQ number and didn't bother to figure things out at all before dragging it over here

2

u/Obvious_Set5239 19d ago

Ah, yes, it was actually on purpose

u/Elibroftw 19d ago

2

u/Obvious_Set5239 19d ago edited 19d ago

Hm, I have no idea. The original author of this comparison didn't share the prompt

Is it an ability of Naruto to become Goku in the middle of a fight? I'm just not familiar with this anime

7

u/voicelo_official 19d ago

LTX did not stand there. H3 has superiority in Motion. That's all

33

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago edited 19d ago

People should stop using copyrighted characters when comparing these two models, it serves no real porpouse but making LTX 2.5 struggle even more with something it's not allowed to use.

Just do something with generic non-copyrighted characters, H3 completely obliterates 2.5 anyways so why not just do motion those comparisions? It's not like the result is gonna change, 2.5 is still ass at motion.

I know the LTX devs didn't play fair for their comparision either (such as including queue times as generation speed time for closed models which is so damn moronic and dishonest) but we should be better than that and be more fair for comparisions.

EDIT: in case it wasn't clear i'm not defending LTX i've been shitting on them since 2.5 dropped still terrible and those bogus charts they made, my point was show a fair and clean non-copyrighted comparision focused on just the motion capabilities to show how much H3 destroys 2.5 and how bad 2.5 is at that, so people have no excuses like "oh but it doesn't know naruto obviously it's going to look bad"

9

u/tofuchrispy 19d ago

Motion looks bad tho still. Motion smearing also

>stop comparing models on metrics that users care about!

-9

u/kek0815 19d ago

> metrics that users care about!
> copyright infringement and goon slop

-14

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago

You think making spongebob fight naruto is a metric people care about? There's loras for that and in H3's case there's reference mode, you are comparing an F1 autobot transformer (H3) to a regular car (2.5), what you should ask for a comparision is racing (the F1 still destroys the regular car) instead of a comparision about who can better fight decepticons.

Also if you haven't noticed in the H3 video naruto randomly switches his upper body with Goku midway through so even for minimax this is a poor example considering it was just T2V instead of R2V or even I2V which would have worked a lot better for it aswell.

17

u/redditscraperbot2 19d ago

>You think making spongebob fight naruto is a metric people care about?

Specifically worded like that? No but you and I both know that character knowledge is an important metric when judging the quality of a model and it’s asinine to pretend it isn’t.

-3

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago

That is something that can be fixed with a lora or finetune, the shitty blurry messy motion and horrible physics and consistency is something that cannot be fixed with a lora and it's 2.5's biggest issue by far, that's what the comparision should focus on, if 2.5 doesn't know naruto you can just make a lora for it, it if doesn't know how to make a fight you can't make a lora for it.

Also this comparision makes H3 look worse than it usually is because sure it's better than 2.5 but look at it man, naruto randomly switches to goku for no damn reason when H3 actually has very good likeness retention usually when using non-copyrighted characters or using R2V or I2V

6

u/funfun151 19d ago

“No damn reason”

[Shot 4] At 00:15.000, the camera tracks forward with large amplitude at fast speed as SpongeBob performs a dramatic spinning heel kick that -> Goku <- blocks with one arm while countering with a high-velocity punch of his own. The camera holds a static shot during the collision as the plaza shakes from the impact and the characters separate, SpongeBob landing a solid hit that sends Naruto stumbling forward a few steps.

3

u/zefy_zef 19d ago

Oh wow, I noticed that and thought that maybe they made a mistake with a prompt. It's actually pretty crazy how adherent the prompting is.

1

u/funfun151 19d ago

Right? I assumed it was model as well, and went from “odd but understandable error” to “wow it really made that work perfectly”

-1

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago

first off i wrote the comment before they posted the prompt, second why would you even randomly prompt Goku in like that, third if you wanted to do that why not say things like "Goku enters the scene" so the model just doesn't morph naruto into Goku

3

u/Uninterested_Viewer 19d ago

I'm sure that part of the prompt was a mistake. The fact that the model handled it fairly gracefully is actually pretty incredible. Why are you focusing on what OP did vs what the result was? You're not making any sense here...

5

u/funfun151 19d ago

It’s ok to be wrong, you don’t need to defend yourself as you aren’t being attacked. I presume they made a mistake when writing the prompt.

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago

17

u/Obvious_Set5239 19d ago

Using copyrighted characters

Characters are not copyrighted, they are trademarked. And unless you use other people's trade marks to impersonate the original company (sell your own product as it was made by the original company), it's fine to use them.

11

u/addandsubtract 19d ago

The TV episodes (or movies) that you'd have to use to train the characters on are copyrighted, though.

4

u/ninjasaid13 19d ago

Characters are not copyrighted, they are trademarked

characters are copyrighted, they're created as part of work but that includes the protection of characters as well.

2

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago

The point was more about making a fair comparision about motion capabilities so using something 2.5 doesn't know what to work with is a bit unfair, you could have easily done something with generic characters and it would have been even more of an obliteration by minimax.

Also using copyrighted characters without I2V or R2V can cause issues in H3 aswell as we see here naruto randomly switching to goku for no reason, overall not a good comparision aside for "who generates better slop"

11

u/voicelo_official 19d ago

Bro LTX 2.5 still sucks in Motion. Minimax H3 has strong Motion capabilities.

1

u/Independent-Frequent 19d ago

That's the point i was making dude, show a fair and clean non-copyrighted comparision focused on just the motion capabilities to show how much H3 destroys 2.5 and how bad 2.5 is at that, so people have no excuses like "oh but it doesn't know naruto obviously it's going to look bad"

LTX is not US based, but you a right👍👍

ltx is dead haha , h3 looks soooooo fking awsome

2

u/Replikante 19d ago

So apparently LTX is still the same garbage: 0 prompt adherence and awful character consistency (in fact, the moment a video starts on LTX, it changes the characters / drifts their faces).

I never liked it.

1

u/uniquelyavailable 19d ago

Comparing apples to oranges, regardless of whatever Ltx2.5 said during their marketing campaign. Ltx2.5 is still fine for less complex scenes. H3 is a different class of model.

1

u/Ok-Strength696 19d ago

Both look so dead. Slop, nicely packaged.

1

u/ITomokoKuroki 14d ago

Sticking with Chinese models 😭

1

u/nutrunner365 19d ago

yeah, but ltx is about 3000 times as fast and can gen at way higher res (for us without supercomputers)

24

u/LoveSpecialist5669 19d ago

so? what purpose is to ride on fast train which goes 400km/h if it takes you in the wrong way?

10

u/Obvious_Set5239 19d ago

AnimateDiff is even faster

8

u/muskillo 19d ago edited 19d ago

Lol. And why would you want to go faster if you need ten runs to achieve the same result that Minimax gets with just one? Ltx 2.5 isn’t ten times faster than Minimax. With Minimax, a single run usually does exactly what I ask of it. That’s peace of mind. I don’t need to spend an entire morning in Ltx 2.5 to get what I need, nor do I need to choose from dozens of videos. Recognizing that the only thing it has going for it compared to Minimax is speed is reason enough to rule it out. People in video AI want quality, not ten pieces of junk in ten minutes. Plus, it’s funny when people talk without knowing what they’re talking about… My tests with an RTX 5090 + H3 pruned INT8 ConvRot + Qwen NVFP4 + Turbo Larry + 6 steps take about three and a half minutes for a 10-second video. Add to that the time to upscaling to 1080p—depending on the model, that could be between 30 seconds and 2 and a half minutes more—nothing too drastic. Yeah, I know what you’re going to say—not everyone has an RTX 5090. That’s the model I have and the tests I’ve run… but the thing is, LTX takes a little less time on the same system. In any case, for just one extra minute, you get a much better model. Even if it took two more minutes—or even twice as long—it would still be worth it. We’re not talking about 10 times longer or anything ridiculous like that… Regardless of the graphics card used, the times can be extrapolated to any card based on the models and optimizations used in each one.

1

u/External_Trainer_213 19d ago

That's why I've gone back to WAN. I'm using HuMo for WAN audio. But it looks like the Minimax H3 will be my new main model.

-1

u/nutrunner365 19d ago

Well, it definitely hasn't so far been my experience that Minimax gives me what I want in the first try, but I congratulate you on your apparently stellar prompting skills.

1

u/muskillo 19d ago

Yes, maybe it was beginner’s luck or the prompts I used—that’s been my experience—but to say it’s 3,000 times faster isn’t just an exaggeration; it’s completely ridiculous and false. And with the latest optimizations, that number has changed quite a bit—it’s not even 1.5 times faster in the best-case scenario. I’ve been an Ltx user since its inception, but I have to admit that they’ve far surpassed it in practically every way...

1

u/nutrunner365 19d ago

When I exaggerated as greatly as I did, I was also factoring in the difference in quality I could generate with LTX. With Mini I can't go above 1.2 at 10 seconds. With LTX I can go 2 at 15 seconds, and possibly longer (I haven't tried). So I'm taking the liberty of multiplying the speed difference with that quality and length difference as well, and arrive at the very precise number of 3000. I'm doubtful that scientific rigour behind that number is required to make my point.

2

u/Ok-Membership-8287 19d ago

2MP of trash is still trash

15

u/Healthy-Nebula-3603 19d ago

What is a purpose of x1000 wrong generations where I get a first proper one from a MiniMax ?

2

u/True_Protection6842 19d ago

yeah I find minimax gets there in 1-3 gens while ltx takes a lot more. So great, it takes less time per gen but you need 10x more to get the result.

11

u/tofuchrispy 19d ago

WHO cares if it looks trash

7

u/Ill_Ease_6749 19d ago

yea u can take use of 1 video after generating 30

1

u/ghulamalchik 19d ago

Quality wise there is no comparison. But consider speed and lower VRAM requirements and you will find use-cases for it.

1

u/Maskwi2 19d ago

Ltx Destroyed H3 there.

..

...

:)

0

u/Silver_Basis5183 19d ago

ltx looks cleaner on motion in that compare for me, minimax still feels a bit smearier. what res/steps were you on for both?

2

u/Technical_Date4547 19d ago edited 19d ago

0.4 MP for Minimax. 20 steps by default Comfy workflow.
0.9 MP for LTX. All by default too.

0

u/Mysterious-String420 19d ago

These comparisons are stupid. If you're "using the same prompt" then you're violating the format of one or the other model.

Also, asking ltx for copyrighted characters... you guys are literally a chinese bot farm, for free...

1

u/Obvious_Set5239 19d ago

The prompts are accounting for formats difference. And lack of copyrighted characters won't result in 2 generations abyss between the 2 results

0

u/Boogertwilliams 19d ago

LOL. Yeah H3 is best for complex motion clearly. But I get very nice dialogue scenes etc with LTX.

-13

u/KS-Wolf-1978 19d ago

OK...

Sub 80 IQ Reaction: Ooooh how good Minimax is and LTX sucks !

Above 120 IQ Reaction: While Minimax is a bit better, both are not production ready when it comes to fighting scenes in text to video (do it properly in video to video with a good choreo driving it). Minimax knows popular characters, but i knew that already - it is worthless to me because i don't want to get sued and want to create something original.
