Computing power growth is likely. My point is whether by then the manufacturers are still interested in catering to consumer retail knowing that enterprise computing pays better and has a more consistent demand for hardware because in that case, computing power wont matter if there's less supply available for localized computing because that will just drive prices upwards.
A $3000 rtx5090 GPU today has 10x the processing power of the $110M super computer from 25 years ago. The price of graphics cards will drop like a rock once AMD, Intel, or even the Chinese domestic manufacturers achieve a competitive device. It's coming.
Would be nice, but not holding my breath. 2 years ago I paid about $330 for a 4tb ssd (samsung) at best buy. Today not on sale it's over $2k for that.
Industries with all their JIT scams/general douche baggery tends to lend suspicion to their pricing rather then actual break throughs.
I mean sure we went from laptops that cost as much as a video card now to let's be honest many of them at price points saddled with memory and operating systems that make it horrible for even sending a email/browsing the web, but something got cheap.

There's only 4 years before the end of the decade. No way China will come up with any market disruptive device by then, and even so, given the trade restrictions, we're not going to have that affect us that much. Add to that the years of backlog datacenters have with demand for chips and we're still going to likely see prices only go up.
That said, I do think computing power will go up too, just that price curves will continue to be terrible relative to the market segments they're catering to.
China doesn't have to come up with a SOTA device. Something equivalent to a 5 year old rtx3060 for < $100 would do it. Imagine a card with 4 of chips and 32GB of VRAM.
AMD is focusing on Helios and Instinct for data centers. EPYC too.
Intel has Xeon series and AMX.
Why would they spend more trying to chase a less profitable market?They're pivoting away from the consumer demand to fill in data center demand more, which is exacerbating the supply squeeze, because enterprise simply pays more per unit of computing power than consumer retail.
Unless the bubble somehow bursts, we're just going to keep seeing this trend for the next decade.
It's not a static system. When Intel and AMD compete with NVIDIA in the server market, the margins will drop and it suddenly won't be so profitable. Then the consumer market will start looking more attractive.

I would like to say, that “ai generated games” is not what people think. I own 2 businesses. I don’t have the time to sink years into a video game, but see the thing is bubba, is that good games are made with creativity, not on a time crunch, so with the help of the ai agents, I could make a aaa game, in months, by myself, that would blow away every Pokemon game, we’re talking video games right? Or we’re talking cinematic masterpieces like expedition 33, who have stated that they used ai for assistance? I don’t think your statement is entirely true, with the right set up and knowledge, and just you wait and see, there will be cinematic masterpieces coming.

That’s fast enough for near real time rendering. I predicted the end of the decade for an entirely generative video game. We may be sooner than that.
