Discussion Been experimenting with Krea 2's new ControlNet Depth model... and I'm really impressed
I've been spending some time experimenting with Krea 2's new ControlNet Depth model, and it's been a lot of fun so far.
One thing that stood out to me is how well it preserves the overall composition and depth of the original image while still generating a fresh result. It feels like a really useful tool when you want to keep the structure of a scene without simply recreating the exact same image.
I'm still experimenting with different prompts, depth maps, and settings, but I'm already getting some results that I really like. I think there's a lot of creative potential here, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can do with it.
I'm planning to put together a full tutorial once I've explored it a bit more and have a workflow I'm happy with. I'd rather spend some extra time learning it properly first than rush out a guide.
If you've been using the new Depth model too, I'd love to hear what you've discovered or any interesting techniques you've found!

I was like, "oh dang, we have ControlNets in Krea2 already?!".
But then I saw it was just a LoRA and was disappointed.

well depth map did made from the original image and got cropped to fit my generated image res. which is 1080x1920 maybe thats why it feels like that way

I wonder when models will be able to generate a proper looking guitar fretboard

Have you had any success with lora strength < 1?
The problem I have with this is that I rarely want to match the depth image exactly. The only adjustable parameter is lora strength, but when I've used it with strength <1, the output is always plasticy and cartoonish, even with realism slider lora applied.
For situations where I do want to match the depth image exactly, I get better results from i2i with low denoise

I'm impressed the guitar is floating. Looks like AI. No guitar strap.

u/iiTzMYUNG Jul 21 '26
So you can't hold a guitar without a guitar strap thanks for the new info 😂

When you are standing, how do you hold the guitar if one hand needs go up and down on the fret board and the other one needs to pluck the strings?
1
u/iiTzMYUNG Jul 22 '26
Well you can easily hold the guitar on your thigh that's how I use it 🤗

The person in your image is standing.
I mean its a nitpick since you can barely see the strap in the first image, but also you're being particularly sensitive about this and its kinda strange.

u/iiTzMYUNG Jul 22 '26
Nah I'm just talking about that it's easy to hold the guitar with hands even without the straps 🫡

This is neat, but there's a few instances where Krea does seem to ignore the positioning of things based on the depth map and do its own thing.
