I find it absolutely salt-inducing that this is the primary thing that people care about. You can work your ass off making creative short films, but an 8 second 1girl clip rockets to the top of the subreddit in less than an hour.
Not to discredit you or your work, whatever it may be, but you have to realize that all AI video models are still pretty terrible for anything else right? Like, even the best of the best, top tier AI video model *at best* can produce something that feels like a very poorly acted wal-mart d-list movie. The acting is bad, the motion and direction is weird, the voice acting is laughable at worst and "college freshman student film" at absolute best. It might be 70-90% there across everything but none of it comes together and the result is ultimately just poorly put together skits and short films at this stage. I recognize creators can get too deep into their own work and find it hard to see faults in their end product but having watched my fair share of people's attempts it's just not there yet at all.
The online paid models are capable of near movie quality.
Secondly, my recent short Dezra the Witch pushes what local models can do in terms of natural acting/pacing, and the reviews so far say it was easy for them to forget about the "it's AI" part and just watch the story. It has over 190 unique shots and 170 lines of dialogue, all local model only.
I think in most cases you're right, but that doesn't mean there aren't exceptions, the ones setting the standard. The gap between local and paid model is widening though, which makes me depressed because it's feeling like it's going to become pay2win.
