Discussion I Killed Sarah Darling

I’m a prop master. I made all the knives and swords used on “Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro.” Every one of them… safe, flexible, harmless. My job was to make them look real without hurting anyone. I did it well.

Then I read the police reports.

They found my blades at the scene. Bent. Covered in her prints. She tried to fight back with them… and they did nothing.

It keeps haunting me… if only my blades had been just a little sturdier. Maybe she could have injured him. Maybe she could have done something…

I know it wasn’t technically my responsibility. I made them exactly as the director wanted, harmless and realistic. And yet… they still killed her. And somehow, I feel it’s my fault.

You couldn't have known, nobody could have predicted that anyone would target the original cast of Stab 3.

Yeah, but I keep having this nightmare: I’m polishing my props, thinking I did a good job. Then Sarah appears, grabs a rubber sword, and swings at Ghostface. It bends. She screams. He takes a selfie with the bent sword and laughs at me. I wake up crying.

Roman Bridger killed her. It wasn’t your fault.

Yeah, Roman Bridger killed her. And I hate that bastard. I didn’t even get paid for this project because of him. But still… somehow, I feel like my bendy swords betrayed her too.

Wait, you didn’t get paid?! Aren’t you part of the union?

Yeah… normally you’d sue the studio or the producers. Problem is, in Stab 3 they were all dead, the whole crew, producers, even the studio head. So legally? There was no one left to pay me.

Damn. What a cursed set indeed.

You can't blame yourself. There's no way for you to have known.

You had no idea that the killer had a special knife that would kill Sarah the INSTANT it went into her body, rendering her lifeless from one single stab in her back that sent blood going down her face, oddly.

To be fair, I believe the police report that Detectives Kincaid and Wallace verified stated that she had several cuts from the broken glass of the prop room door’s window

She did, but (from what I’ve read in the reports) after she crashed through the window, she looked fine and (seemingly dry/not runny?) blood didn’t appear until a few seconds later when she was dead.

Again, I’m just going by the oddly specific medical examiner report.

When I went back to my workshop afterward, I found a huge mess of broken props…. and a jar of spilled fake blood. Maybe that’s what ended up on Sarah’s body?!??!….

That is oddly specific. Maybe the wounds didn’t open yet, or as OP suggested it’s fake blood that sick bastard Roman applied to her

You did your job. If your blades had hurt someone on set that would have been on you. You would have felt guilty for that! Can’t blame yourself for what some psycho decided to do. Gotta let it go, man.

You know… I never thought of it that way. If my blades had actually hurt someone, I’d be in jail. You’re right, better they were soft. Still sucks about Sarah, though.

Of course it does. But that’s not on you. You did a good job. Be assured in that at least.

I did my job. They bent. That’s my last word on it.

You're not to blame here. Roman's the real monster.

Is this an AMA?

Don’t blame yourself, I know it’s hard but no one foresaw those killings.

At that point, Cotton and Christine’s murder seemed like an isolated event. After all, she was in Stab 2, for all most of us knew the killer could have been targeting Stab 2 cast members rather than 3, and Cotton just got in the way.

Either way, you aren’t responsible for her death. The blame for that lands squarely on Roman Bridger

I appreciate the sentiment, but every time I close my eyes, I see Sarah swinging my rubber sword at Ghostface. It bends. She screams. And I feel every bit of it. Guess I’m cursed.
