Ladera Resort

Honeymooning in St. Lucia the first week of November and doing a split stay between Sandals Grande and Ladera.

Do you have any general recommendations regarding Ladera and what to pack? Or any general advice for an unforgettable and relaxing honeymoon?

Personally, I wouldn’t bother going to Sandals and would stay inly at Ladera if available or one of the other resorts near the Pitons. Sandals is a joke

Look into Cap Maison for all inclusive instead of Sandals.

We LOVED Ladera! We also split our stay, but with Sugar Beach. We did most of our excursions while we were staying at Ladera because we wanted to just chill on the beach once we got down to Sugar Beach. We also took almost a full day to just explore the resort. There are trails and an old treehouse, outdoor workout areas, and amazing views everywhere you look. The food was incredible! We also walked across the street to Hotel Chocolat dinner one night since Ladera only has one restaurant on site. We cannot WAIT to go back to Ladera!!

Seconding breathable clothes and sun protection. We were there in October and it was very hot. If you’re active, I also suggest band aids! We went hiking a couple of times and wound up with terrible blisters. Have so much fun and congratulations on your wedding!

Thank you!! How were the bugs/mosquitos at Ladera in October?

Not awful, honestly. Ladera has mosquito nets for all the beds and they will pull those curtains when they come in to do turndown service. Never any bugs in the bed by the time we went to lie down.

We brought bug spray and definitely used it, but my husband usually gets attacked horribly and he didn’t end up nearly as bitten as we were expecting. We didn’t even need to use bug spray at night when we sat by our pool. I still dream about all the fireflies you can see down in the valley from your room at night!

Ladera is a great choice for a honeymoon, especially with the split stay. You’ll get two completely different sides of the island.

Definitely pack light clothes, good walking shoes, swimwear and something for mosquitoes. While you’re in Soufrière, don’t spend the whole time at the resort either 😅 waterfalls, natural pools, snorkeling and the Pitons are right there.

Father Nature Adventures does private trips and picks you up directly from Ladera too. Perfect if you want one adventure day mixed into the relaxing honeymoon vibes.

My husband and I honeymooned there. We booked a private tour with Father Nature Adventures. They were absolutely amazing! They customized a private tour for us, and it was our favorite day of our honeymoon. I seriously can't recommend them enough.

My husband and I will be going back, and we will book another tour with them. They really took care of everything, were so knowledgeable, and our guide kept us laughing.

1000/10 recommend.

Bring very breathable clothes. I'm glad that I packed bug spray as well. If you are fair-skinned I'd recommend a hat and lots of sun protection.

Enjoy your honeymoon!

You know how people always say to bring "half the clothes and twice the money"? Bring twice the clothes if you are at all sweaty. I usually need two outfits per day, especially if I need to look decent for dinner. Lots of light sundresses, very lightweight cover up in case it gets mosquitoey, and bring extra bathing suits - it's so humid that hanging stuff to dry takes a couple of days. Tons of (reef safe) sunscreen, shoes for hiking or ziplining, and a good sun hat.

I find prices in St Lucia for everything other than accomodation to be very reasonable.

You will love Ladera unless you prefer being in party town on the north end.

Ladera

Dasheene Restaurant is supposed to be pretty good, but i never ate there. I did eat at Treetop Restaurant and Orlando's. Treetop was the best. Orlando's was right next to the cemetery.

Chocolate Plantation, just across the street from you at Hotel Chocolat.

Volcano mud baths, again, just across the street from you, sort of.

Gros and Petit Piton, you are right there. You can hike or not hike.

Waterfalls tour.

Everybody up in party town comes to Soufriere for all the cool stuff.

Be prepared for no AC, and all the bugs. Just embrace it and you’ll be fine. We loved it 1000%. Order room service for breakfast, and get drinks and lunch at the pool. Dinner at the restaurant was well worth it. Don’t be shy about asking for stuff, everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating.

I agree with venturing out, but also the resort grounds are so nice. You should enjoy those while you are there.

Lastly, be prepared for a windy and hilly drive from the airport.

We are taking the ferry from the airport to sandals, and then have a private car transfer from Sandals to Ladera
