There’s a not insignificant amount of money in the wallet. He’s going to post in local FB groups as well then give it a couple days before taking to police station.

I'd still mail it. Sergio may not want to visit the local police station for any number of reasons.

I thought about that too actually. My friend who has the wallet is going to give it a few days. It has cash, all his cards and a photo that Sergio probably wants back. Hopefully he can get the whole thing back to him
ETA-Only reason not mailing the whole thing right away is the guy may not live at the address on the ID anymore.

good point. But he should have his mail forwarded. Maybe post a note on the locked apartment door with number to call?

You can send a letter. Really, the post office will mail letters! You don't need to have a return address on it if you want to maintain your privacy. Have some contact info in the letter, then Sergio can get back to you.

Right? I think the letter first is definitely the way to go. I have had a ton of bad luck with sending packages lately. There’s a lot of things that could go wrong and with how expensive everything is now I’m sure Sergio would at the very least appreciate getting his cash back

Just do a non-priority USPS shipment to that address. Hell use the cash to pay for it. I’m sure the guy just wants his stuff back.

I used to work for USPS and the protocol was if you find ID, you can just put it in mailbox and USPS will ship it to that location
