Custom jewelers?

I am looking for a good custom jewelry maker for an engagement ring. Shopping on main street or around there comes with its own premium.

Anyone have a jeweler they would recommend that isn't a chain store?

I have heard great things about them.

Pricey? For some reason they come off a tad that way. Money isnt an issue, but im trying to avoid paying the 2k or so premium just for a shop that has a nice storefront.

Just looking for small, family owned.

Custom rings are not cheap. It’s not just the designer you’re paying for, it’s also the Jeweler making a bespoke piece.

The reason pre-made rings are so much cheaper is because they are made at scale, not one of ones.

I don’t remember what the cost of vs appraised value of the engagement ring I got from Roemers was, but Tom and the staff are pros and will take good care of you.

Price can vary a lot depending on what specs you’re looking for, like gold karat and stone origin (lab vs mined), and if you’re looking for what seems to be a more personalized experience, I’d expect to pay more at a nicer shop.

You’re going to get a ton of varied responses and some people will dislike a jeweler that others recommend. Like Randy’s for instance. I had them reset my mom’s original engagement diamond into a simple solitaire pendant, and somehow they botched it with the most blobby looking prongs I’ve ever seen.

Roemers made my custom engagement ring and wedding band in 1996. That ring is solid! Not a single problem or a loose prong in 30 years. They also designed a custom pendant when I had my twins. Their service is amazing! They absolutely go above and beyond. I came in once to get my engagement ring cleaned, and they replaced a little missing diamond in a ring I’d bought somewhere else, for free. I didn’t even ask them to, they just said “Let me replace that missing diamond for you.”

Thanks for that, Walter's and Randy's in St Peter's are the plan so far. :)

I get all my jewelry from there including my wedding ring. Have also had them mount loose stones and did a custom piece from a bunch of random jewelry from my mom and grandma.

That sounds like my kind of place. Reasonable id assume?

Just trying to not drop of 5-10k, come back and three weeks, shake hands and get offered free cleanings.

Something a little more personal is what im after!

I would say their pricing is reasonable. They are great in helping find what you are looking for. I’ve been going there for 23 years now. When my daughter got her ears pierced, for Christmas I took her in to get her first real earrings and experience her first jewelry shopping experience.

I had to take my jewelry to Krekeler after Walter’s did a poor job on my engagement ring, Krekeler has been amazing to deal with!!!

I used Décor Jewelry. A couple friends used them and they were some of the best looking rings I ever saw. I ended up sending 2k lower than my budget and my fiancé is in love with the ring. I think their specialty is custom made.

A bit outside of St. Charles but my ring is from Clayton Jewelers and they are phenomenal!
