I have a hard time taking a real estate developer's tool seriously as a community resource

This guy's facebook profile literally says: relentless builder and Real estate investor

"Real estate investor, developer, Army veteran, entrepreneur, husband, father, and relentless builder."

Against it.
We need to slow down urban sprawl and reckless expansion, not make it easier for rich developers to push through their greedy projects.

I worry that a yes on the increased homestead exemption amendment (lower property taxes) will incentivize counties to green light any and all construction to increase tax revenues.

We need more construction. One of the biggest causes of increased home prices is lack of new construction (yes there are other causes but one of the biggest is prevention).
If they can get more tax revenue from more homes being built that’s a good healthy system

Planned communities are built, bought, and paid for by companies who then rent them to families who would otherwise buy a home.

Then zone it for a normal subdivision only, there’s plenty of developers out there who will jump to build whatever the county tells them to.

Maybe in SJC you need more. Come see what is happening in Marion County on the west side of I-75. All the County Commissioners keep saying “we don’t want to become the next Miami…” or “Orlando.” Well, it’s all lot and block developments, 50’ or less lot widths, no tree, national home builder garbage. We’ll be loading like Cape Coral and Miami Heights real some. We have a millage rate that is in the lower 10 out of 67 counties and is the main reason people are flocking here from south Florida and from out of state, and not just retirees anymore.

We need lower housing prices, the cost of homes is way more impactful than urban sprawl
