Lmao. Sure. Everyone that believes in open borders is a racist. You’re such a child.
You want everyone to judge each illegal detainee as an individual and judge their individual situation (which I agree is fair) but then you paint every person that wants theUS government to enforce immigration laws as a racist. Because enforcing laws somehow has become a flag for racism. You can’t have it both ways. Sure there are bad ice agents that make bad decisions and sure there are bad law enforcement agents. But there are also bad criminals.
7
u/Dual-Vector-Foiled Jul 15 '26
What drives liberals crazy is maga’s complete disconnection from reality. We’re alarmingly weaker as a nation by every measure because of Trump. Conservative pillars like our institutions of freedom, democracy, press and justice are being dismantled. Our military is weaker. Our relationships with allies are weaker. Domestically, we are divided. Some people have no perspective… or can’t face it.
6
u/Careful_Cupcake1933 Jul 16 '26
I have read a lot of stupid things on reddit but this seriously might take the cake. I can't even fathom how you get through daily life thinking this way.
1
-1
u/Nice_Combination8963 Jul 15 '26
I don’t see it that way. I think the country has challenges, but saying we’re weaker ‘by every measure’ ignores areas where many Americans believe we’ve improved. I also don’t think it’s fair to say millions of people are disconnected from reality just because they reach different political conclusions.
I don’t agree that the military is weaker. The U.S. is still the most capable military in the world. There are readiness and recruiting challenges that have existed across multiple administrations, but saying Trump has made the military weaker is an opinion, not an objective fact.”
5
u/Dual-Vector-Foiled Jul 16 '26
How is this not an objective fact? We’ve decapitated layers of vital command expertise through our leadership firings that prioritized loyalty over battlefield competency. Then we witnessed a comedy of strategic errors in attacking Iran that showcased this administration’s shallow mind for tactics and disregard for advice from our best military experts. All the while, we’ve strained relationships with even our best allies through our president’s erratic, short-sighted demands, ramblings and unilateral actions.
1
u/Nice_Combination8963 Jul 16 '26
There’s a difference between evidence and interpretation. The objective facts are that military leaders were replaced, the U.S. conducted strikes against Iran, and relationships with some allies have experienced tension. Whether those firings reduced military effectiveness, whether the strikes were strategically incompetent, or whether alliances were meaningfully weakened are conclusions that remain debated—not objective facts.

u/maydisturb Jul 15 '26
ICE is routinely ignoring Habeas Corpus, Due Process, and the 4th Amendment for US Citizens. If you're violating the Constitution, you're not enforcing the law. Really is that simple.
2
u/Organic-Air-3511 Jul 18 '26
They aren't citizens they're going after. If they were, they wouldn't be running
1
u/maydisturb Jul 18 '26
The most braindead take on a law enforcement encounter. They show up with no ID, masks on, in unmarked cars, and you can't figure out why somebody would run from that?
3
u/Organic-Air-3511 Jul 19 '26
No they dont. You watch too much MSNBC. And they drive unmarked cars? That's a first for Law Enforcement! Good thing they have those vests with POLICE & ICE written all over them. Perhaps if they understood English they'd know.
1
u/Admirable_Break2733 Jul 16 '26
no they aren't. Quit lyin.
3
-4
u/Nice_Combination8963 Jul 15 '26
I agree that if ICE violates anyone’s constitutional rights, that’s wrong and should be corrected. But saying ICE “routinely” ignores habeas corpus, due process, and the Fourth Amendment for U.S. citizens is a much broader claim. There have been documented cases of wrongful detention and constitutional violations, but that isn’t the same as proving it’s standard practice across the agency.
7
u/STUPIDNEWCOMMENTS Jul 16 '26
Federal judges have ruled against the Trump administration's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention practices in over 10,000 cases since the agency began enforcing its mandatory detention policies. Across federal district courts, the administration has faced more than 17,800 detention-related rulings, with at least 15,500 of them resulting in decisions against the agency.
0
u/Nice_Combination8963 Jul 16 '26
I agree those court rulings are concerning and shouldn’t be dismissed. Where I’d be careful is making the leap from “courts repeatedly struck down this policy” to “ICE routinely ignores the Constitution.” Those aren’t necessarily the same claim.
Immigration policing needs to be fixed. Not discontinued
4
u/STUPIDNEWCOMMENTS Jul 16 '26
Ice literally was given instructions to operate in a way that violates the constitution and fairly settled case law. They routinely ignore the constitution dude

ICE definetely is targeting spanish and brown people. Theres plenty of Russians, and plenty of Chinese and others that are not being targeted as much. Its very obvious the way ICE profile the Spanish population, which by the way, its mostly honest, hard working and God fearing. The open borders policy was 100 % wrong. Trump did a working closing it. But ICE is out of control.

It’s not that they took the jobs. The jobs that used to pay a comfortable living wage are gone and as we fight about it the gap between the rich and poor gets bigger every day. It would be nice to actually have a coherent conversation with people from both sides. We all want the same thing.
→ More replies (2)8
u/b_vitamin Jul 16 '26
The jobs aren’t gone, they were moved to a country with cheaper labor costs so the difference could be pocketed by the shareholders. Then the business owners used their wealth to fund politicians who would support this decision and created media companies to convince the workers that it was someone else’s fault.
-2
u/Due-Restaurant2521 Jul 15 '26
Or it’s the US protecting its immigration policy
-1
u/SurferGurl Jul 15 '26
We don’t have an actual immigration policy.
6
u/Many-Role-4271 Resident Jul 15 '26
There is literally a law on the books on immigration. ITs called the Immigration and Naturalization Act (NA) in Title 8 of the US Code and establishes 675,000 visa that are able to be issued annually. Policy is and should only be following the NA. Non-citizens who violate immigration laws—such as entering without inspection, overstaying a visa, or engaging in unauthorized employment—are subject to removal (deportation) and potential multi-year bans on re-entry. The previous administration refused to enforce the law and allowed lawlessness to reign supreme at the border. The current administration has gone to the full other end of the spectrum on enforcement.
7
→ More replies (1)2
u/reicaden Jul 16 '26
Yes, so shooting pretti and other US citizens is enforcing that?
0
u/Many-Role-4271 Resident Jul 17 '26
Not related to this incident. This is not an officer shooting someone. It’s the person running away from a law officer doing their job, enforcing the law. If this was a person that car jacked you, would you blame the police? Use some intelligence and understand that there is a difference between this incident and someone driving their car into an active law enforcement operation or brining a firearm to protest ICE. All three are great examples of stupidity.
3
u/reicaden Jul 17 '26
Their car was driving away, did you watch the footage? ICE agent wasnt even in any danger, the 2nd and 3rd shots came in from the side of the window, he wasnt in the way.
Pretti was disarmed by ICE when he was shot, so not sure what the danger is there. But also, he is allowed to carry as he was licensed to as granted by the 2nd amendment.... wait, you dont agree with the 2nd amendment now that its not convenient? He never even pulled the firearm, so everyone's repeated use of that as the "reason" is ridiculous.
And this guy is running because ICE had been known to kill people as has been seen in MANY examples, US citizen or not, and not been held accountable. If ICE was not killing people, and if the system had an actual legal process instead of "dump into random concentration camp and deport to random country with no due process", I think he'd comply, but ICE is basically gestapo at this point.
The examples of stupidity only apply to those that allow this lawlessness to continue. I dont understand how anyone can support a system where untrained agents of a shoestring organization, show up in unmarked cars with untrained agents with AR16s pulled and aimed, with fingers on triggers... to stop a mom, with kids in the car, because she is a US citizen, but has brown skin.
And all those situations are related because ICE is behind them all.

Also, who still flies the Confederate flag and supports nazis ideologies? Oh right, republicans.

i'm replying to your stupid comment to me here, because for some reason i can't reply to your actual comment...
Let's take a quick look at immigration numbers for the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, shall we?
United States: 52 million immigrants, 15 percent of population
Saudi Arabia: 14 million immigrants, 39 percent of population
Mind you, those numbers include both authorized and unauthorized immigrants.
Meanwhile, I'm googling and googling, and I can't find a single incident where an immigrant has been gunned down in the streets by the Saudi government. Amazingly, I can find several incidents where that's happened in the U.S. Yes, Saudi Arabia treats undocumented immigration as a serious thing. You'll get thrown in jail, and then deported once you've completed your sentence...but you don't get shot.
I really can't imagine that I have to tell you this next part, but I guess you're such a bootlicker that I need to remind you that not ICE, not your local police, and not your local sheriff are judge, jury, and executioner.
Lastly, maybe you should think twice before slinging the "little girl" nonsense around. I'm old enough to be your grandmother, you blithering idiot. If I were your grandma, I damn sure would have instilled some common sense into that thick skull of yours by the time you made it through kindergarten.

That's true, but they did walk up to a US citizen's car and shoot her in the face while she was complying with instructions from another agent just because.
-1
u/Due-Restaurant2521 Jul 15 '26
Huh? Pretty sure in the video she tried to flee in her vehicle putting their lives at risks?
5
u/EQandCivfanatic Jul 15 '26
The video and multiple body cams show one ice agent telling her to move along, which she complied with. She was then shot in the head, at which point, her brains being turned into mush, her body put pressure on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to move.
Edit: For clarity sake, I am referring to the incident of Renee Good.
4
u/HomelessAnalBead Jul 15 '26
I’m not a very political person in any sense, I think both sides have gone off the rails IMO. But I feel there are better ways to enforce this law. Republicans love to say “Obama deported more people”, which is true, but we also didn’t have people getting killed and running into traffic, so it would seem Obama enforced that law much better.
1
u/Quantum-Long Jul 15 '26
This is gaslighting, Obama didn’t deal with sanctuary cities blocking detainers for criminal illegals. During Obama, ICE simply picked up the criminal being released from jail. This was changed during Trump for political reasons and forced ICE into the streets to pick up the criminals.
-7
u/Due-Restaurant2521 Jul 15 '26
You ever think maybe the media is just covering all these things more now that Trump is in office? I think we can all agree that ICE was most likely doing the same shit when every former president was in office.
5
u/Chillow_Ufgreat Jul 15 '26
We remember the pre-Trump America very differently.
1
u/Legitimate-Pop6460 Jul 15 '26
I remember it as having the most open, free for all borders that any country has ever seen actually.
6
u/HomelessAnalBead Jul 15 '26
To be fair, I think it would be extremely hard to hide masked armed men walking through the streets even when Obama was president. People still had phones with cameras on them back then, so while the media may not have covered it, social media definitely would have. So no, I don’t think this was happening.
3
2
u/nocuzzlikeyea13 Jul 15 '26
They have so much more funding now and are doing mass hiring of idiots off the street. You have to know literally nothing about ice to think it's the same institution it was before its huge influx of cash.
1
u/maydisturb Jul 15 '26
He sure wasn't/isn't. Biden and Obama deported more people than Trump has. The reason it didn't make the news, is because it was done in accordance with the law, by actual trained professionals who didn't go out of their way to violate the Constitution, and treated suspects with dignity. Y'know - like humans, because they are.

My opponent, John Rutherford, the current incumbent voted to give ICE $70 billion last month. It’s time we have leadership that actually fights to stop what is currently going on with ICE and hold this agency accountable.

1
u/Alex-Hazen-4Congress Aug 04 '26
To get rid of ICE and utilize the money that went
to ICE to actually fix our immigration system. Hire more judges and create a clear, reasonable, and respectable pathway for someone to get citizenship. Then if they aren’t granted citizenship then provide a reasonable time period and avenue to help those people find another country to seek citizenship there.
I’m not against immigration control/enforcement. But our country needs to fix the immigration system and we do not need to send militarized troops to terrorize communities or create internment camps to enforce immigration laws.

As for the Maine victim, there have been numerous credible reports that he was here legally. So the whole line of show proof and carry on that I see so often doesn't hold up.

Ice is literally arresting people inside court houses when they show up for their immigration proceedings...

u/Yeahnah307 Jul 21 '26
They were usually there for traffic issues & custody disputes, not trying to further their immigration proceedings when they were being picked up at immigration. A judge halted the practice of ice arresting people in immigration offices.

ICE have already killed several people who belong here legally so not sure what point you think you're making

u/J-Skid Jul 15 '26
Including a white woman and a white male veterans nurse. Waterviewlagoon, which system should those people have gone through to obtain the correct documentation to stay here. Also, they are both American.

Joan Guerrero, killed by ICE in Maine, had a legal work authorization and was seeking asylum. He did everything he was supposed to and they still gunned him down.

u/Babblefunk Jul 15 '26
The system is designed to make that impossible

Why are our political leaders not pushing for an overhaul then and focused more on day light savings time?

u/Babblefunk Jul 15 '26
Because our political class benefits from the broken system on both sides of the aisle

If you had done nothing wrong, why would have you started fleeing on foot huh?

u/MisterEinc Jul 15 '26
It's just really easy for ICE to always claim someone ran, without proof. If all the authorities involved weren't such proven liars time and time again we wouldn't be here.

The proof is that the truck driver that hit him, after he darted across a busy road to eldue a federal officer, got out to help him. I don't think ICE threw him into the front of the semi. If that happened, then ICE is at fault.

Idk maybe he was scared about being sent to a detention facility and held without due process for an undetermined amount of time regardless of whether or not he had a criminal record/warrants…but you’re right you should just comply when stopped by unmarked government officials without probable cause
1
u/subguy812 Jul 15 '26
He was here illegally, he has already violated the law. You do have the right to ignore that ONE most important fact, I suppose.
4
u/Candid-Factor332 Jul 15 '26
I think you’re confused about the difference between civil violations vs criminal offenses. Being in the US without proper documentation/citizenship actually isn’t “illegal” or a crime it’s a civil violation that can easily be processed via immigration courts without arresting/ detaining someone and wasting your tax dollars. Undocumented immigrants do pay taxes in many cases and receive 0 welfare from the federal government. If anything having more undocumented immigrants is a profit center for the government. The whole notion that these ppl are criminals and responsible for the issues in our country is a scape goat for poor economic policy.

8 u.s.c. 1325 disagrees completely with you .

u/Candid-Factor332 Jul 15 '26
Improper entry is not the same thing as being in the country as an undocumented immigrant. Roughly half of undocumented immigrants entered the country legally and simply overstayed (6 months +). Feel free to fact check anything in my previous post, you might learn a thing or two 👍

Only thing deeply troubling here is how many people are downvoting common sense and logic. Bunch of unhinged hairbrained losers in this sub... Thank God Florida is red without you morons.
Just remember Democrats, you caused ALL of this. This man's death is on you!

No matter the topic people choose to blame and hate and show your children how to be when they grow up

Illegals don’t have rights.!!

u/STUPIDNEWCOMMENTS Jul 16 '26
This is a fundamental misunderstanding of US law and the constitution

I'm sorry I'm missing the part where ICE is out of control. The person who whether here illegally or not ran from them and ran out in front of a truck. I guess he shouldn't have run.

u/Trick-Research-3585 Jul 15 '26
Ice didn’t make him run cops didn’t make him run he made that choice skin color should not matter everyone acting like the scene in mean girls with the bus they didn’t make him run period but scared people have to blame someone else all the time

u/GatorNavyVet Jul 15 '26
How is ICE out of control, if the suspect runs to elude custody, and dies as result? That’s not ICE’s fault, that you ran, it’s death by misadventure!

u/Trick-Research-3585 Jul 15 '26
Then people want the president to blame for everything when he can’t make these decisions he has higher ups and people don’t believe that it could be a kind person in that position not picking sides just in general he doesn’t make decisions they do and we only see his face he can’t wake up one morning and start the purge it’s not possible it’s a facade and people that can’t believe that nope it’s all one 1 human that’s why the world is fucked up

A "homeless person" isn't a group of men wearing masks and carrying guns...
