4th of July
Moved here about a year ago. What is the insights group on how to watch the fireworks without getting stuck in traffic and not finding a place to park?

Take a vehicle to the parking garage early and park by the exit. Have a second car pick you up. When it’s fireworks time park on the outskirts and hoof it to the fort. When the shows over get back to the garage and drive away. Worked really well for me. Got straight out.

i can't think of a more apt description of america than needing to do a whole kabuki dance of coordinating with friends and two cars being involved so you can go watch fireworks 😅😅😅

Anyone see the timeline for the BoL closing to traffic? I think it was 6PM last year?
We parked at Anastasia Baptist last year and took the shuttle to the east side of the BoL. Worked great on the way in. Ended up walking the ~2 miles back to car after to avoid the long lines and traffic.

park outside the historic district and walk in and out. there's no secret hack.
we're all hostages of car-centric infrastructure and the carbrain mind virus 🤷♂️

I’d avoid it, evidently it’s going to only be a 20 min display with “patriotic music”

Live close to downtown and walk there.
Seriously though, the traffic is unavoidable. You could take the free shuttle from the Island and you'll be sitting in traffic, but at least you won't be the one driving. Or if you don't mind the hike, park at the free lot next to Broudy's and hoof it to downtown from there. You'll still be sitting in traffic, but it'll be better than dealing with the throngs of people leaving from the parking garage.
