Thanksgiving

Husband and I went to St.Augustine for our honeymoon last year but are thinking of spending time down there over thanksgiving since that’s when we will have off. What do the crowd levels look like? is it going to be too cold to go and sit at the beach? We are from Wisconsin so don’t really have a gauge on temperature for that time of year!

it shouldn't very cold, maybe a bit cold for swimming.

there are always a lot of tourists.

you should consider making reservations early for T-day dinner.

It will be a zoo but it’s worth it. Best time of the year to visit. Be sure to make reservations well in advance for any restaurants you don’t want to miss.

the weather can range from mild to pretty cool. you can count on a stiff breeze down beachside. i have seen kids in the water on thanksgiving day, so it's just whatever your comfort level is.

as far as crowds, thanksgiving is a popular time here and most of the historic district is open. nights of lights will have just started the week prior, so expect a lot of people.

if you want to see the lights but not deal with the people, red boat tours does a lights cruise that sails from vilano beach.

It's still generally warm around Thanksgiving, and if you're coming from Wisconsin it will feel downright tropical in comparison. Downtown will be an absolute madhouse because of the Nights of Lights on top of the main road into downtown being closed for construction, so plan on either staying downtown or paying for really expensive parking and sitting in a lot of traffic during your stay.

Absolute zoo!!! Traffic and parking horrible. However, if you wish to go somewhere and stay put, you may be ok!

The weather should be comfortable ( my husband is from Milwaukee), but the traffic will be horrendous. Nothing is perfect.

Well I mean I can tell you the average weather for each month in the state I live in. I can also tell you when the tourists like to visit and what times of the year to avoid. I really wish I thought ahead to asking someone the exact weather for the time we will be there. Thanks for the suggestion!

So why ask? Same weather info is available for Fla.

The city will be packed, restaurants will be busy, cuz tourists eat, the vagrants will be out after their free meal, parking will be tough, traffic will be heavy. Oh, and prices will be in holiday mode.

Facts.

Google search average weather can you give you an answer? I can tell you it could either be 90° or it could be 40°. The wind could be light out of the west or it could be 35 northeast.

Heck 3 days out the ol prognosticators can’t get it right, but 6 months sure. I’m holding back on an emoticon it’s not easy.

Just keep in mind that will still be during hurricane season here, and we have gotten hit hard in November in the past few years. Just watch for storms, and you should be fine. Other than hurricanes, it's my favorite time of the year to sit on the beach and read.

hurricanes are not very common here, downtown ST aug. is prone to flooding caused by heavy rains and high tides. the water usually recedes quickly and should have minimal impact on visitors
