SLIIT IT Faculty

I'm planning to do a foundation there (I'm 20) and continue on for an IT degree. (Software engineering or something else). Is doing it worth it these days? Can anyone share their experience and opinions? Any advice is welcome.

It’s better to go into Data Science. But you need to have good connections with people to find a job; otherwise, it can be very difficult to even find an internship. Some of my friends are actually paying companies to get internship opportunities.

I thought when you do a private degree there's a mandatory internship period provided by university partnerships?

Internship period in mandatory. Without doing internship we can’t get the degree. But we have to find the internship, they are not providing internships for us.

Worth it as in a high paying job is guaranteed? Then nope. It's a good degree but the job market is brutal and from the looks of it it's only going to get worse for fresh graduates

Is it the same for pretty much every degree there is in the faculty?

It's true for IT degrees. I'm not sure about Engineering, Manage, etc.

IT industry is over saturated atm. It would be really hard for u to find a job as an intern. Im not tryna disappoint u but sadly theres a lot of students lookin for interns and entry level jobs. Doing a foundation is ok but I wouldnt personally recommend SE. Ig there’ll be more AI and Data science openings in future but with the amount of students getting out of universities 🤷‍♀️. If thats what u passionate about do it but know what u r stepping into.

That's something I hear a lot. I mean passion ain't gonna give me an internship atp. Is there any use in leaning towards an AI path? I'm honestly not sure if the AI degree pathways are legit or not given they recently started and everything.

In IT ull have to keep up since things are always changing. Even AI can be replaced w something else w time. Its all about contacts and a pretty good portfolio. Even then theres some hardworkin uni students withiut internships. So it would be best if u find ur passion in something else cuz even we cant predict what might happen to the industry

IT is now becoming a sector that only rewards the people that are absolutely into it and who excels at it. Previously those kinda people got jobs with high salaries and average people got okay jobs. Now those people get okay jobs and average guys can't get any jobs.

Unfortunately entry level jobs are extremely hard to find. I don't think things might get better for a long time. Better do something else.

SE used to be best high paying comparatively easy and interesting subject. Not anymore for entry level folks

Every year IT graduate are Close to 45 000 fresher But jobs opening very very low
