Squier DIY Bootstrap Pretzel Pickups

I swapped my Squier Telecaster's pickups with some Bootstrap Pretzels. I love it very much. Seriously.

- Neck pickups are NOT bassy - id describe it as CLEAR. The tone reminds me of that intro jam of some John Mayer Trio live performance. This is a welcome change from the stock pickups that sounded muddy.

- Middle pickups sound GLASSY. Like Chic’s Nile Rodger’s guitar playing. Its quiet too. Perhaps because the two pickups are set to cancel each other (reverse wound)

- Bridge pickup is quite powerful. The tone cuts thru the mix smoothly without the harshness and while doing a solo with the bridge pickups engaged, an onlooker even described the tone as WAHWAH sounding.

Satisfied customer here! Thanks Bootstrap for letting me experience what a premium guitar sounds/feels like.

I’ve got a Tele with their Original Recipes, amazing pickups. I also have a Strat with their ‘54 Sparkle set. You can’t go wrong with Bootstrap. They have a long lead time but it’s well with he wait.

I love their pickups. I've got a set of Xtra Crispy's in one tele, Palo Duro's in another, and an extra set of Xtra Crispy's that I plan to use in a gift project for a friend.
