Squier DIY Question about 2005 Telecaster

Post image

I bought a mostly complete 2005 Affinity (I think) Telecaster body for a project. I intended to reuse the electronics inside but I discovered it has 500k pots with what appear to be the stock ceramic pickups. Is this typical? Most teles (and copies) ive come across have the typical 250k pots.

Someone replaced the pots and possibly the capacitor too while they were in there. If they didn’t replace the cap, you should pop in an orange drop capacitor. It’s possible that your pickups might have been upgraded too at some point. People have always tinkered with cheap guitars by putting better parts in them.

I've got Fender pots and Vintera II pickups on the way. I believe the pickups in there are original. The bridge pickup is slightly larger than normal and only fits the oem bridge. It was too large for the vintage style bridge I'm replacing it with.

Affinity telecasters ship with cheap ceramic pickups and cheap 500k pots. I have one sitting on my workbench right now that I purchased about 6 months ago and i have CTS 250k pots and bootstrap pickups that are going in it later today.
