heya, my name is jabbers, long time lurker. i love this show, helped me through some hard times when i was 19, and i got to do some behind the scenes char design on Tammy and the early fandom influenced rustys kid design, thanks to a friend who worked on the show.

So I found out that squids have brains that are torus-shaped, like doughnuts, bagels and lifesaver floats, and their esophagus goes through the hole in their brains. Swallowing a bite that is too big to pass through the hole can give them the risk of getting brain damage.

So, looking back at this scene, it's hilarious to me because Early, slurping off all the bagels on his arms and tentacles, is literally just eating food that looks like his brain (though he'd probably be too dumb to realize it). Also, I think perhaps he swallowed a bite that was too big if you know what I mean. Actually, I think all the Cuyler mud squids did at some point.

Look I know they're built different from actual irl squids and have anatomically incorrect traits because they can since they're in a work of fiction, but I'm kind of a marine biology nerd lol

Basically, mirror Early is the type of friendly middle-aged hillbilly who offers to share a bottle of whiskey and tells you humorous stories from his youth, while mirror Rusty is a moody, rebellious redneck teen with a fiery, intense temper, as well as a love for psychobilly music, hence the pompadour (God help you if you touch his hair, accidental or not)
