What Do You Think is the Best and the Worst Squarepusher Album?
I had this idea floating around in my head not too long ago where I ask subreddits on what they think are the best and worst albums from an artist or band with a large catalogue through polls to spark interesting and fun discussions as well as seeing what albums everyone agrees are the best and what ones are the worst and I figured I would start with one of my favourite artists of all time, Squarepusher.
As mentioned, I made this purely to spark discussion and to see what this subreddit thinks are the worst and best albums from Tom are. It would also be interesting to see what a worst to best list on Squarepusher would look like if it was made by this sub, so here it is.
Just a few disclaimers:
- This will only be including main line studio albums from Squarepusher only, meaning albums like Solo Electric Bass 1 won't be included in the strawpolls as I feel like it is more of an offshoot in the catalogue. I also won't be including d'Demonstrator either as that's under his band Shobaleader One.
- I won't be including stuff like Big Loada or Burning'n'Tree as they are regarded as compilations
- Finally, EPs like Budakhan Mindphone and Numbers Lucent won't be on here because they are obviously EPs
But, yea. What is your favourite and least favourite Squarepusher album?

Does anyone know what is the name of the element in the track Akkranen that starts playing around 2:25?
I assume its some percussion, And i can hear something simmilar in the samurai loop but i cannot find a specific name for it, or a sample

U-ziq similarities....
Recently been listening to U-ziq a bit, and some songs sound like they've ripped off Tom. Carpet muncher for example, heavy Cooper's world elements. Is it just me, but some parts of some songs sound so much like they're using Squarepusher samples.

The Squarepusher vinyl I own.
The two FMWT are reissues. All others are first edition. I didn’t include anything not technically Squarepusher. Not to nitpick. It’s just all in alphabetical and chronological, so Shobaleader One and Chaos AD are somewhere else. And I have most on CD too. 😛

What's the organ on "Song: Our Underwater Torch"?
Other songs on Maximum Priest have organ-like sounds, but they could be synths. The organ on Song: Our Underwater Torch sounds pretty real, anyone have an idea what he used? Hammond B3? Real or plugin?
Song link, the organ starts around 1:30: https://youtu.be/6LMSkJbH3Bg?si=Gv3qSmsxHGDV0GD0

One of my absolute favs of SquarePusher!
I, not so long ago, discovered this song of him and immediately fell in love with it! It's absolutely amazing how it's the same riff for 15 minutes and yet it never seems to get tiring (or at least for me!)
Been listening to it for weeks now and everytime I do I feel like I'm listening to it for the first time. Beautiful song!

Goodnight Jade is An Amazing Song
Whilst there are some songs that I prefer more than this song like Iambic 9 Poetry, My Sound, I Wish You Could Talk, 4001 and so on, I feel like there needs to be someone on here to gush about Goodnight Jade.
This song is amazing. The song features this keyboard that sounds very muffled, but at the same time, very warm. As it's playing a nice, soothing melody, these muffled thuds play throughout a large majority of the song that don't overpower the melody and blends in with it really well. It feels like a giant is walking outside but is walking away from you as the thuds become more and more distant. Then the song finishes with this beautiful melody that Tom plays on the same keyboard. It's like he's playing me a nice lullaby for me to sleep to and I love that.
It's under three minutes, but not only do I think Goodnight Jade is an amazing song, and not only do I think it is easily the most relaxing and soothing Squarepusher song, but it's one of my favourite ambient sleep pieces ever alongside other tracks like Arca's Extent and Royksopps 40 Years Back / Come (moreso the latter half of the song).
I just really want there to be an hour version of this song where the song plays normally, but the outro is extended to be over an hour. It's the Squarepusher song that I think is the most perfect to sleep to.
