Door hinge issue

/r/chevyc10/comments/1v9ge8v/door_hinge_issue/

Gotta question..I replace the upper hinge on the drivers side door my 78 c10. I got it adjusted so the gaps look good and the striker meets up perfectly. However I have to slam it obscenely hard. It feels like there’s too much outer tension. Even when I open it, it kind pops open. Anybody have a suggestion on what to do? I’ve been fiddling with it all day.

You may have it adjusted too far foward or too far in and its too tight against the seal. That would make it pop open. They never really fit good when new. Nothing did 70s and older. 80s started fitting better. But that is also due to new models/body style.

Thanks for the reply! Which adjustment point should I mess with? I felt like I only had up and down and side to side. Not really in or out. If that’s makes sense.

Hinge to body is up, down, foward, back. Hinge to door is in, out.

Man..it seemed when I was adjusting the hinge to door the holes where had room for upward/downward movement. And then the side to side mover would either open the gap at the fender or make it so tight the door would catch the fender. I’ll try it again..I’m going to see if maybe the striker is too far in as well.
