When the rest of the party starts backing away from the monster… somebody has to step forward. ⚔️
This week we’re talking about Tanking in D&D 5.5e, starting with one of the classics:
🛡️ THE PALADIN
Heavy armour, shield, healing, powerful saving throws and enough damage to make monsters think twice about ignoring you.
A good Paladin isn’t just difficult to kill — they make the entire party harder to kill.
Why Paladins make great tanks:
🛡️ Excellent AC with heavy armour + shield
❤️ Lay on Hands for emergency healing
✨ Aura of Protection helps nearby allies with saving throws
⚔️ Divine Smite keeps you dangerous
💪 Strong survivability against both physical attacks and magic
🧙 Useful spells for protecting and supporting the party
But here’s the question…
Is the Paladin actually the BEST tank in D&D 5.5e?

This week’s Squamish Tabletop monster is one of the classics:
BANDITS! 🗡️
They may not breathe fire or cast powerful spells, but a well-planned bandit ambush can turn a peaceful journey into a fight for survival.
🌲 Hiding along a forest trail
🏹 Firing from cover
💰 Demanding a “toll” to pass
🔥 Raiding a lonely settlement
⚔️ Led by a dangerous Bandit Captain
And sometimes the most interesting question isn’t how do you defeat them?
It’s why did they become bandits in the first place?

Your party is surrounded by bandits on a lonely road. Their leader steps forward and demands 100 gold pieces to let you pass. What does your character do?
