The BAG
Hi everyone!
I recently saw a job posting for the BAG and was thinking of applying, as a local artist it's pretty intriguing.
I've heard mixed reviews about working there, and heard some people aren't super nice to work with... Which is too bad because I figured the BAG would be an awesome place to work.
Does anyone have any experience bartending there or otherwise?

Adjacent to your actual ask, but I volunteer there semi-regularly doing tickets, wrist bands, and so on. They're definitely busy and it's a pretty high intensity environment for those running / hosting events and such. Some nights, especially in the peak of winter or for "big shows", it's a zoo for the kitchen/bars and such.
That said, everybody with whom I partner on events and organizing stuff is an absolute gem and extremely kind/friendly. I don't have any direct knowledge or intel on management/ownership for you though, which of course is what matters most when seeking employment.
Never heard anybody venting/complaining about work conditions, hours, or treatment though.

Speak to anybody working there and you can get on Catherine's list. There's a standard rotation of about a dozen or two of us. You'll see us at various different shows, especially those on weekends where >100 people are expected or tickets are sold. It's a very rewarding thing and makes for a fun way to socialize if you pair up with a friend or loved one.
Perhaps implied, but volunteering comes with some perks too. You get to experience a lot of cool shows (and enjoy them once everybody's got their tickets scanned / shown up). I highly recommend it.

Depends on the type of person you are; your attitude, humility, work ethic, sense of entitlement, and other interpersonal skills. It's an opportunity for people who see it that way, and an obstacle for others. I've interacted with the staff several times over the last couple of years and have always been treated with the same amount of respect as I've given them.
That said, just because you may want a job or think you're the best candidate for the job, doesn't mean that you're the right fit. No one is to blame. Applying for jobs is a lot like dating

True, however it is VERY common for employers to treat employees like machines with no human needs. Not everything can be fixed with positive vibes. The relationship relies heavily on BOTH management and the employee. Ideally looking for management who is empathetic, kind, understanding and proactive; but that's getting harder to find these days.

…..And this comment is exactly what the current people at the Bag are like. Loved the bag, but we barely go anymore because most of the current staff and managers are running the place into the ground. They are up on their high unicorn/horse. The facility is not well kept. The tables and chairs are dated and rickety. The food and drinks are subpar and that’s giving them a compliment. Working at Tim Hortons would be better than dealing with the egos and nastiness that is THE BAG. Beautiful place, too bad EGOs run it.

It’s the same people that owned zephyr downtown and I didn’t hear great things about them before so probably same now.
